Cycle Code 0405 - When Will My Transcript Update?
I got cycle code 0405 on my transcript after filing on January 29th. Been checking every day since then but nothing's changed. I drive for DoorDash and really need this refund to cover some car repairs. Does anyone know when 0405 cycle codes typically update? Will I see something this Friday or next week? This waiting is driving me crazy...

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe cycle code 0405 means your account updates on Thursdays... I've been waiting since February myself. My understanding is that the first two digits (04) indicate the day of the week - with 04 meaning Thursday. The last two digits (05) refer to the processing year, which is 2025 for this tax season.

This explanation makes so much sense! It's like decoding a secret language the IRS uses. Thank you for breaking it down - I've been staring at my cycle code for weeks without understanding what it actually meant.

I had the same cycle code last year when I filed in mid-February. My transcript updated on a Thursday night around 3am, and my refund hit my account the following Wednesday. The waiting game is brutal, especially when you're counting on that money! I remember checking the WMR tool like 5 times a day.

This is really helpful information about the Processing Cycle Date! I've been worried about my transcript status for weeks. Such a relief to understand what these codes actually mean instead of just seeing random numbers.

Did you claim any credits? EITC? Child Tax Credit? Those delay processing. Self-employment income adds complexity. Transcripts update weekly. Sometimes daily. When did you file exactly?

Good questions. The IRS processing timeline is significantly affected by tax credits. According to the IRS website, returns with EITC or Additional Child Tax Credit are legally held until mid-February regardless of filing date. Self-employment income also triggers additional verification processes in many cases.

I'm curious about this too! Do different cycle codes have different processing times? I have 0505 and I'm wondering if that means I'll be waiting longer than someone with 0405?

I have the same cycle code and I've been tracking this pretty carefully. Here's what I've learned: 1. First, cycle code 0405 means your account updates on Thursdays (04 = Thursday, 05 = 2025 tax year) 2. Next, most transcript updates happen overnight between Wednesday and Thursday 3. Then, if you see an update with a refund date, you'll typically receive your deposit 5-7 days later 4. Finally, many people with our cycle code are seeing updates this week Don't panic if it takes another week - the IRS is processing a huge volume right now, but they're moving through them systematically.

I was stuck with this same cycle code for THREE WEEKS! Finally decided to call the IRS but kept getting the "high call volume" message and disconnects. Used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes who confirmed: ā¢ My return was just in normal processing ā¢ No issues were flagged on my account ā¢ Expected completion date was within 7 days ā¢ No additional documentation needed So relieved to get actual answers instead of just guessing what was happening!

Did you file on January 29th and get accepted the same day? I filed on January 30th with cycle code 0405 too, and my transcript finally updated on February 22nd. Are you checking your account transcript or your return transcript? Sometimes one updates before the other.

The cycle code is only part of the equation. Have you checked for other codes on your transcript? A 570 or 971 would indicate a hold. A 766 or 768 would show credits being applied. Did you receive any letters from the IRS? Sometimes they need verification before proceeding, and the letter might be on its way.

Can anyone tell me exactly what time the transcripts update for 0405 cycle? I've heard it's at precisely 12:05am on Thursday mornings, but others say it's more like 3:00am or even 6:00am Eastern time. I've been checking at 12:01am, 3:01am, and 6:01am every Thursday for the past 21 days with no changes.

Wait, you have to check at specific times?! I had no idea the updates were that precise. I thought they just updated sometime during the day. Is there a schedule somewhere that shows all these exact times?

I tracked this pretty carefully last year. My 0405 cycle updated at 3:17am Eastern on a Thursday. The following week it was 2:58am. There's no exact science to it, but generally between midnight and 6am Eastern is when the overnight batch processing completes.

Thank you all for this detailed timing info! My mortgage payment is due next week and I'm really counting on this refund. Knowing exactly when to check saves me from the anxiety of refreshing constantly!

I've been through this before. In my experience, checking transcripts constantly just adds stress. I recommend setting up direct deposit if you haven't already, then just check once each Thursday morning. My cycle code was 0405 last year and 0505 the year before. Both times, my deposit arrived about 5-7 days after the transcript updated with an 846 code. The IRS is actually pretty consistent once they process your return.
