Any 0805 cycle code filers still waiting for their refund?
According to the IRS2Go app and WMR tool, those of us with cycle code 0805 on our transcripts should have had our refunds processed by now. I'm checking the r/IRS megathread and TaxTwitter, and it looks like some 0805 people are still waiting. Anyone else in this boat? I filed on February 1st and transcript updated with 0805 cycle code three weeks ago, but still no DD. Just trying to figure out if this is a wider issue or just me.

The 0805 cycle code typically indicates weekly processing that should complete on Thursdays/Fridays. However, the IRS is experiencing significant backlog issues in the current processing queue. Their internal systems are showing delays of 7-10 additional business days for many 0805 coded returns, particularly those with certain credits or deductions that trigger additional verification processes. Have you checked your transcript for TC 570/971 combination codes?

When did you file? Early season? Any credits claimed?

According to the IRS Processing Guidelines in Publication 1345, cycle codes indicate when your return is batched for processing, not necessarily when the refund will be issued. Code 0805 specifically means your return is processed on the 5th day (Friday) of the 8th processing cycle. The actual disbursement may still be delayed by various internal verification procedures.

This is probably the most helpful explanation of cycle codes I've seen. I think most people assume the cycle code means when you'll get paid, but it's more about internal processing batches.

Is there any way to know why some 0805s get processed faster than others? I filed 2/15 and got my refund last week, but my sister filed 2/1 with the same cycle code and is still waiting. Makes no sense!

I was stuck in the 0805 cycle last year and was getting frustrated with the lack of information. I found these resources helpful: ā¢ Used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript - it explained that my 0805 code was delayed because of a verification hold ā¢ The tool showed me exactly which codes were causing the delay ā¢ It predicted my refund would come in 2 weeks (which was accurate) ā¢ Saved me hours of trying to interpret transcript codes Might be worth checking if you have access to your transcript. The IRS doesn't always tell you why there's a delay, but the codes on your transcript will.

I'm seeing a pattern with 0805 cycle codes this season. Several clients with this code who claimed education credits are experiencing delays. One particular client filed on February 3rd, received 0805 code by February 17th, but didn't receive their refund until March 29th. The IRS seems to be conducting additional verification on certain types of returns, even within the same cycle code group.

I was in the 0805 cycle and waited 6 weeks with no updates! Called the IRS tax line for DAYS with no answer. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to an agent in 18 minutes. The agent confirmed my return had a manual review flag that wouldn't show on WMR or the transcript. They released the hold while I was on the phone, and my DDD showed up 4 days later. Sometimes you just need to speak directly with an IRS representative to resolve these cycle code delays.

I've been tracking cycle codes for the past three tax seasons, and 0805 consistently has the most variable processing times. Last year my return had an 0805 code and took 31 days from acceptance to deposit. This year I got the same code but received my refund in 17 days. The cycle code just indicates which processing batch you're in, not your actual refund timeline. The IRS systems are just inconsistent with how quickly they move returns through the verification stages.

Your multi-year tracking is impressive! It's like weather forecasting - the cycle code gives you the season, but not the exact temperature on a specific day. I've been telling my clients to use cycle codes as a general guideline but never as a promise date.

Do you notice any pattern with refund amounts? Are larger refunds typically delayed longer even within the same cycle code?

I'm also 0805 and have been waiting exactly 47 days since filing. My refund is $8,742 due to overpayment and child tax credits. The transcript shows no holds but still no deposit date. I need this money by April 15th for a property tax payment!

I was in the 0805 cycle last year and had almost given up when my refund suddenly appeared. What helped me was checking my Account Transcript rather than just the Return Transcript - it showed a different status that explained the delay. My sister had the same issue this year and her 0805 refund just hit her account yesterday after a 5-week wait.

Did your Account Transcript show any specific dates for when the review started? Mine has had March 25, 2024 as a processing date for over two weeks now with no updates.
