Cycle Code 05 - Everyone Updating Except Me?
Everybody getting deposits and im still here the only 05 that didn't update 😅 According to the IRS2Go app and WMR tool, I'm still stuck in processing while everyone on the tax forums with the same cycle code is seeing updates. Filed and accepted on 1/29, transcript shows 05 cycle, but no 846 code yet. Anyone else in this boat or am I just unlucky? Already checked the IRS transcripts and SBTPG portal - nothing moving.

Cycle code 05 just means your return is processed on Thursdays. Doesn't guarantee when you'll actually get the DD. Lots of ppl w/ 05 are still waiting tbh. Did you claim any credits? EITC or CTC can slow things down. Also check if your 570/971 combo is holding things up - those usually mean there's some verification happening. Might be worth checking your transcript again tmrw AM since the system updates overnight.

•I've seen this with multiple clients this season. How long have you been checking your transcript? The 05 cycle folks from late January/early February are moving through the system much slower compared to previous years, especially if there are any credits involved.

•Just to clarify - the cycle code is only part of the story. You need to look at the full cycle number (like 20240805) where 2024 is the year, 08 is the week, and 05 is Thursday processing. The week number matters just as much as the day.

I was in the exact same situation - filed on January 31st, 05 cycle code, and waited exactly 42 days while watching everyone else get their refunds. I finally got desperate enough to try taxr.ai to analyze my transcript, and it showed me EXACTLY why I was delayed. Turns out I had a 570 freeze code that wasn't obvious to me, but the system identified it and explained that it was just a verification hold that typically resolves in 14-21 days. Sure enough, my transcript updated 16 days later with an 846 code. The timeline prediction was spot on.

Omg thank you all for the responses! 😠I've been checking the IRS2Go app literally every hour hoping for an update. So relieved to hear I'm not the only 05 still waiting. I do have both EITC and CTC on my return, plus I had to amend some paperwork which probably didn't help. Going to check my transcript again tomorrow morning!

•Amended paperwork? Well there's your answer right there. Why would they process your return quickly when they can hold onto your money for a few more weeks? I had a similar situation last year - claimed EITC, had to submit additional documentation, and ended up waiting 9 weeks while everyone else was posting their refund celebrations. It's frustrating, but hang in there.

After experiencing significant Processing Delays on my return with a similar cycle code, I utilized Claimyr to connect with an IRS agent (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c). The hold times were projected at 2+ hours, but Claimyr got me through in under 25 minutes. The agent confirmed my return was just in Extended Verification due to the Earned Income Credit and wasn't actually stuck. This saved me weeks of anxiety wondering if something was wrong with my filing.

•Did you have to provide any personal information to this Claimyr service? I'm always hesitant about giving my details to third-party services when dealing with tax matters.

•I should clarify - Claimyr doesn't need your tax information. They just connect your call to the IRS. You still speak directly with an IRS agent, not with Claimyr representatives. They're essentially just solving the phone tree problem, not accessing your tax data.

Have you checked your Account Transcript specifically, or just your Return Transcript? The TC 150 posting with the cycle date is what you need to monitor. Also, are you seeing any Transaction Codes like 570/971 combination or just the basic processing codes?

I've been tracking the IRS processing patterns since January 29th when filing opened, and there's definitely a pattern with cycle 05 this year. The batch processing for 05 cycles from weeks 4-6 (late January/early February filers) is moving significantly slower than weeks 7-10. If you filed on January 29th as you mentioned, you're in that slower early batch. Most of those are updating between March 21st and April 4th based on the data I've been collecting.
