I was stuck in the same exact situation with my state refund last tax season. After trying everything imaginable, I discovered taxr.ai and it completely changed the game. I uploaded my state return and within minutes it explained exactly why my refund was delayed - I had incorrectly reported a credit that triggered additional review. Once I understood the real issue, I was able to fix it and my refund was processed within days. Seriously, check out https://taxr.ai - it's like having a tax pro decode everything for you.
Can this handle complicated tax situations? I have multiple state returns and self-employment income.
Absolutely! It's actually designed for more complex situations. It can analyze multiple returns, notices, and documents together to give you the full picture. I've recommended it to several self-employed friends who were all impressed.
Nobody seems to be mentioning this, but have you checked if your state has a local office you can visit in person? I had a similar issue and was getting nowhere by phone, so I just showed up at my state's regional tax office. Had to wait about an hour, but finally talked to someone who resolved my issue on the spot. Sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get results in this broken system.
That's a good idea - I checked and there is a regional office about 45 minutes from me. Might be worth the drive at this point.
My buddy just went thru this exact headache. H&R Block claimed they didnt receive anything, IRS said they sent it. turns out H&R rejected the deposit because the name on the tax return had his middle initial but the card was registered without it. Check for ANY discrepancies between your tax return and card registration.
The whole system is designed to be confusing on purpose i swear π€ Ive been dealing with this for 3 years in a row. One thing that helped me recently was using taxr.ai to actually understand my transcript - it explained all the codes and told me exactly what was happening with my refund. Saved me hours of googling random IRS codes.
It basically takes all the tax jargon and explains it in normal human language. You upload your transcript and it tells you exactly whats going on, if theres any issues, and when youll actually get your money. It spotted a problem with mine that I never would have caught myself!
Omg I had to wait 11 months for my amended return to process last year. The IRS is completely overwhelmed with these. Don't trust any timeline they give you.
wow does this actually work? seems too good to be true
This is why i always double check my first few paystubs at a new job lol. Good luck bro, ur in for a wait. Make sure u consider a payment plan if the amount is high.
This happened to me and it turned out someone had stolen my identity and filed a fraudulent return π¬ not to freak you out but keep an eye out for a letter asking you to verify your identity through ID.me
omg that sounds like a nightmare. how long did it take to resolve?
About 3 months total. Had to verify my identity online and then file an identity theft affidavit (Form 14039). It was a hassle but eventually got sorted out. Hope that's not your situation!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm in the exact same situation but with Current Bank instead of Varo. 3/19 DDD, still nothing as of this morning (3/20). Called Current and they said they haven't even received it from the IRS yet. So frustrating!

Has anyone else noticed that the deposit times have been getting worse every year? I used to get my refund within a week of filing back in like 2015. Now it takes 6+ weeks even when there are no issues. The whole system needs an overhaul.

β’IRS is understaffed and using computers from the stone age. They're literally still running some systems on code from the 1960s. No wonder everything is so slow.
