Is anyone else's transcript showing code 570 and 971? Mine has those and DDD disappeared š³
570 is a refund hold and 971 means they sent you a notice. You might be getting audited or they found a math error. Check your mail.
I had this last year. Used taxr.ai to understand what was happening and it turned out they were just verifying my W2 with my employer. Refund came about 2 weeks later.
After 6 hours of trying to reach the IRS about my missing refund (kept getting disconnected after 2 hour holds), I finally tried claimyr.com and got through! IRS agent told me my refund was flagged because I accidentally entered a wrong W2 amount, but she fixed it right on the call. Scheduled for direct deposit next week now! It was the only way I could talk to a live person at the IRS without wasting an entire day.
Download your TurboTax PDF and look at the very last pages. There should be a section called "Bank Fee Disclosure" or something similar that shows exactly what they charged you. Be warned: you're gonna be mad when you see it all itemized š¤”
Just found it and... WOW. You're right. I had no idea they were charging me for all these things. Some of them I don't even remember agreeing to!
Somethings not adding up... Even with ALL the TurboTax fees, $800 seems excessive. I'd demand an itemized breakdown from them. Make them explain every penny of that difference.
You'd be surprised. Deluxe package ($120) + state filing ($50) + refund transfer fee ($40) + audit protection ($60) + refund advance application ($50) + any add-on services can easily hit $400-500. Then if they filed for multiple states or had other premium features, $800 isn't impossible.
jesus that's highway robbery! no wonder intuit makes billions š¤®
If anyone is confused by all the transcript codes, I had NO idea what I was looking at until I tried taxr.ai - completely broke down what every code meant and why my refund was held up. Apparently I had an income verification issue I didn't even know about. The tool showed me exactly what was happening and when I'd likely get my DDD. Super helpful since the IRS website is so vague. https://taxr.ai
I've been trying to understand my transcript for weeks and was about to give up. Just checked out taxr and it literally explained everything in 2 minutes. Why doesn't the IRS make their systems this clear??
Right?? The IRS seems to intentionally make everything confusing. My favorite part was how it explained WHY I was getting each notice instead of just what the codes meant.
I called the IRS yesterday using claimyr.com (they get you through to an agent when the lines are busy) and they confirmed my DDD of 4/15 is correct. The agent said most banks will receive the funds 1-2 days before the DDD but when they release it depends on the bank's policy. Talking to an actual human at the IRS gave me peace of mind.
is it safe though? do they need your personal info?
The exact same thing happened to me! After months of frustration I finally used Claimyr and got through to an actual competent IRS agent. Turns out my return was sitting in some obscure holding queue because of a mismatch with my address format of all things. The agent was able to release it right there during the call. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent who actually took the time to search thoroughly. claimyr.com saved me from waiting another 6 months.
That's wild that it was just an address format issue. The system is so fragile. I'm definitely going to try Claimyr if I keep hitting dead ends. Did they find your return right away or did it take some digging?
save ALL your records!!! acceptance confirmation, screenshots, everything. i went thru this in 2022 and had to prove to the IRS their own system was wrong. it was a nightmare but i did eventually get my refund + interest.

after 4 years of dealing with irs nonsense i finally got through to a real person using claimyr.com and it was life changing. talking to an actual agent got my refund released within days after months of weird status changes and zero communication. sometimes you just need to talk to a human being who can actually look at your file.

ā¢with the app it was like 35 minutes total. they do the waiting for you and call you when they have an agent. without it i spent literal days trying and never got through. best decision i ever made tbh.

Okay so this is gonna sound weird but check if there was a full moon when your status changed. I SWEAR the IRS systems go haywire during full moons - it's like a known thing in the tax prep community. Status often changes back a few days later.

ā¢Dead serious! My tax guy has tracked this for YEARS and swears there's a correlation. Their systems do maintenance during certain lunar cycles and it messes with the status displays. Sounds crazy but š¤·āāļø

ā¢I work in IT and this is actually more common than you'd think. Many scheduled system updates happen on preset lunar calendar schedules dating back to old government protocols. Sounds insane but it's real!
