This "info doesn't match" issue happens in about 15-20% of filings based on what I've observed in tax forums. It's similar to how bank transactions sometimes show as "pending" long after they've cleared. The IRS processing pipeline has multiple stages: acceptance, verification, approval, and disbursement. The WMR tool only updates when all systems have synchronized, which can lag by 5-7 days compared to actual refund issuance. If you compare this to state tax refunds, you'll notice state systems generally have more accurate status reporting because they process fewer returns.
Thx for the detailed breakdown. I've noticed the same thing w/ my state refund vs federal. My state's website was spot-on accurate while the IRS one was way behind. Might be worth checking ur bank acct directly if ur getting the error msg for more than a week or so. Sometimes the $ is there even when WMR is clueless.
Has anyone possibly noticed if this "info doesn't match" issue seems to happen more frequently with certain tax situations? I'm wondering if perhaps returns with specific credits or deductions might be more likely to trigger this glitch in the system? My return had the Child Tax Credit, so I'm curious if that might have been a factor.
You need to submit Form 8379 (Injured Spouse Allocation) immediately if your ex-spouse has any federal debts that might trigger an offset! The April 15th deadline is approaching, and if you don't get this submitted, your CTC portion could be applied to their debts. The IRS won't automatically know about your divorce decree protections without this documentation.
FYI - The partial refund sitch is super common this yr. IRS is doing a 2-phase process for many returns w/ credits. Phase 1: Basic refund amt. Phase 2: CTC/EIC after verification. Avg wait time btw phases = 4-6 wks. No need to panic yet. Check your transcript for TC 570/971 combo - that's the verification hold code. They should send a letter explaining within 2 wks. Hang tight!
I think people are making this more complicated than it needs to be. Here's what you should do: 1. First, check your Account Transcript - this shows processing codes and refund status 2. If you see codes you don't understand, then check the Record of Account for more context 3. If you're wondering if the IRS received all your information correctly, check the Return Transcript I'm a bit worried that checking daily might lead to unnecessary stress though. The IRS processing times are slower this year, and transcripts often update only weekly.
I think I might be able to help with this. I was probably in a somewhat similar situation last year. After trying both transcript types, I found that the Account Transcript is generally more useful for tracking refund status. It shows all the important cycle codes and, most importantly, the 846 refund issued code when your money is on the way. The Record of Account is basically a combination of your Account Transcript and Return Transcript, so it has more information but isn't necessarily more helpful for just tracking your refund status.
Did you notice any TC 150 code on your Account Transcript? That's the tax return filed code, and it should appear before any refund processing begins. According to the Internal Revenue Manual, this is the first indicator that your return has been accepted for processing.
This is helpful. Thanks. Been going crazy checking both types. Wasting time. Will stick with Account Transcript now.
For South Carolina unemployment adjustment refunds, here's what I've gathered from community reports: ⢠Processing order: Based on original filing date (not state) ⢠Current status: Processing March filings for single filers ⢠Paper check timeline: 7-10 business days after transcript shows code 846 ⢠Common delays: Address verification (adds 14 days) ⢠Regional differences: Southeast processing center is 2 weeks behind Northeast ⢠Verification triggers: Returns with address changes or income discrepancies Most single filers with standard returns are seeing 8-10 weeks total processing time from original filing date to check receipt. The IRS isn't providing state-specific updates, but the pattern is consistent across regions.
Have you verified if your unemployment compensation was exactly $10,200 or less? The exclusion amount varies based on total unemployment received. For South Carolina filers, 78.3% of single filers with standard returns have received their adjustments as of May 30th according to the latest IRS processing statistics. Did you check your Account Transcript for TC 290 code with cycle date 20241905 or later? This indicates your return has been selected for the current processing batch.
This is incredibly helpful information! I didn't know to look for specific cycle codes. Just checked my transcript and I do have TC 290 with cycle 20241905. Now I know it's actually being processed!

I've been tracking amended return processing times for the past 3 years and your situation is unfortunately common. Here's what I've learned: ⢠Amended returns are processed in the order received (with few exceptions) ⢠ID verification is a separate process from actual return review ⢠Most amended returns are taking 12-18 months currently ⢠The IRS won't tell you what's causing delays I've found taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) incredibly helpful for understanding what's actually happening with my transcripts. It analyzes all those confusing codes and explains exactly where your return is in the process. Helped me realize my amended return was actually moving through the system when I thought it was stuck. Frustrating that we need third-party tools to understand what the IRS is doing with our money!

Have you requested your tax transcripts to check for any updates? I filed an amended return exactly 347 days ago, and while the Where's My Amended Return tool showed nothing, my transcript had 4 different updates that weren't visible anywhere else. Did you amend electronically or by paper? Paper amendments are taking exactly 16.5 months on average right now according to the last IRS operations report.
