846 Code with Deposit Date - Can IRS Change or Cancel It? Need Urgent Confirmation
I finally got an 846 code with a DDD on my transcript. I'm nervous because I've been waiting for months and just want to make sure this is really it. Can the IRS change or cancel the 846 code once its on there? Anyone have experience with this?

Once you see code 846 with a deposit date, that's basically set in stone. The IRS has completed all reviews and approved your refund for release. The only exception would be if you have outstanding federal or state debts - then they might offset your refund, but the date itself won't change.

Hey y'all just wanted to share something that helped me understand my transcript way better than trying to decode it myself. I used taxr.ai and it actually explained everything including my 846 code and when I'd get paid. Only cost $1 and saved me hours of research. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

Congratulations on getting your 846 code! I can totally understand the anxiety after waiting so long. Everyone here is right - once that 846 appears with your deposit date, it's essentially locked in. The IRS has already processed everything and allocated your refund. The only thing that could affect it at this point would be if you have outstanding debts that could result in an offset, but even then the date itself stays the same. You should see your money hit your account on or slightly before the date shown. Try to relax and enjoy knowing your wait is almost over! 🎉
