Can IRS code 846 (refund issued) date change after it appears on transcript?

Finally got 846 code on my transcript with a date of 3/13. Anyone ever see their 846 date change to something else after it shows up? Getting paranoid cause its been such a long wait and dont want any more surprises

IRS tax expert here. Code 846 means a refund has been scheduled, but yes, the date can change. Common reasons include: bank verification issues, additional review flags, or system updates. The best way to track this is by regularly checking your transcripts. I've been recommending taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to my clients - it analyzes your transcripts and gives you real-time updates about your refund status, including if there might be delays or issues with the 846 code. It's been super helpful for understanding these date changes and what they mean.

The tool uses AI to analyze every code and transaction on your transcript - way more detailed than just checking WMR or calling the IRS.

Tax pro here - once code 846 appears with a date, it's basically set in stone. That's the direct deposit date for your refund. The IRS computer system locks it in and starts the refund process. You can breathe easy now!

True, bank rejections can happen but that's on the bank side, not IRS changing the 846 date itself

Hey guys! Instead of stressing about transcript codes, I started using taxr.ai and it's been a game changer. For $4.99 it analyzes your whole transcript and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

Is it legit? How does it work exactly?

Super legit! You upload your transcript and their AI breaks down everything - tells you why there are delays, when to expect your refund, and what actions you need to take. Way better than trying to decode these codes ourselves
