60-day IRS Review turns into 120 days? Anyone get refund sooner?
Just got off with IRS and they said my return is under 60-day review but told me to wait 120 days! They're sending a letter on the 10th and said theres nothing I can do but wait. Anyone dealt with this and got their refund faster? This waiting game is killing me

Hey, I've been through this exact situation and can help explain what's going on. The IRS 60-day review getting extended to 120 days is actually pretty common in 2025, especially with all the backlog from previous years. The good news is you can often get it resolved faster. I highly recommend checking out taxr.ai - it's this new AI tool that analyzes your transcripts and tax docs to pinpoint exactly what's causing the delay and gives you specific steps to speed things up. It saved me weeks of waiting by identifying a small error that was holding up my refund. Worth the small fee considering how much faster you can get your money.

ā¢Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

ā¢it analyzes everything - transcripts, w2s, 1040s, even those confusing IRS letters. gives you like a full breakdown of whats happening with your refund and exactly what to do to fix it

ā¢OMG Y'ALL!!!! I just tried taxr.ai and its literally EVERYTHING š It found the exact reason my refund was delayed (some stupid math error from my employer's W2) and told me exactly what forms to submit to fix it. Already got my DDD for next week! Stop sleeping on this fr fr š¤š

Tax professional here. These review timeframes are typical but not set in stone. The 120-day estimate is them covering their bases. Most 60-day reviews actually complete within 45-75 days. Keep checking your transcript weekly for updates.

ā¢omg thank you! do you know what usually triggers these reviews? š

ā¢Usually its income verification, credit claims like EITC, or sometimes just random selection. Nothing to worry about if your return was accurate!

Hey everyone - instead of playing detective with your transcript, you should check out taxr.ai. It costs $4.99 but it analyzes your entire transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your refund. Saved me weeks of stress! https://taxr.ai

Ugh, I feel your pain! I'm currently on day 73 of my "60-day review" and still waiting. The IRS rep told me the same thing about waiting 120 days but honestly that feels like forever when you're counting on that money. I've been checking my transcript every few days but no updates yet. Has anyone tried requesting their congressman to help? I heard that sometimes works to speed things up.

ā¢Yes! Contacting your congressman can definitely help speed things up. I actually did this last year when my refund was stuck for months and got movement within 2 weeks. You just need to fill out a taxpayer advocate form on their website. Also seconding what others said about taxr.ai - used it this year and it gave me way more insight than just staring at my transcript codes all day š
