IRS Denying Hardship Request - Told to Wait 120 Days for Review

Just got off the phone with the IRS and they said I dont qualify for hardship because I have to wait 120 days for review first. My bills are piling up and I really need this money. Anyone else dealing with this? Filed back in February and still nothing.

Unfortunately, this is correct. The IRS requires a mandatory 120-day review period before considering hardship requests. They use this time to verify all documentation and process any necessary adjustments. Even with financial difficulties, they rarely make exceptions to this timeline.

This is ridiculous! How are people supposed to survive waiting 4 months? 😤

I know its frustrating, but you might want to look into emergency assistance programs in your area while waiting

Hey, I was in the same boat last month and found this tool called taxr.ai - it costs $1 but it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly whats going on and if you actually qualify for hardship. Saved me hours of phone calls. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

Your best bet is to contact your local Taxpayer Advocate Service. They might be able to help speed things up if youre experiencing serious financial hardship.

Try calling early morning right when they open. Sometimes you get different answers from different agents
