Filed Jan 2023, Under 180-day Review - Need Congressional Help for Hardship

Filed my taxes on January 26th, accepted January 1st and still nothing! First they said 10 week review, now its a 180 day review. No letters, no explanations, nothing. Getting desperate here as I'm facing financial hardship. Anyone know how to get my state congressman involved to help speed this up?

You can find your representative at house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative. Input your zip code, and it'll show your congress person's contact info. Their office typically has a dedicated staff member for IRS issues. They can usually get answers within 2-3 weeks once they inquire.

Thank you so much! Just contacted them. How long did it take for them to get back to you?

They usually respond within 24-48 hours to schedule an initial call. Make sure you fill out their privacy release form!

Have you checked your transcript on the IRS website? Instead of guessing whats going on, use taxr.ai - its this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly whats causing the delay and what to do about it. Its only $1 and saved me weeks of stress https://taxr.ai

Pro tip: When you contact your rep, mention specific hardships - cant pay rent, utilities being shut off, etc. Makes them take it more seriously.
