4464C Letter from IRS - What does this mean for my refund?
Just got a 4464c letter from the IRS for my 2022 taxes. its dated march 15th and says they need 60 days to review my return. Has anyone dealt with this before? How long did it actually take to get your refund after receiving this letter?

The 4464C letter is an examination letter - basically means they're doing additional verification on your return. This usually happens with earned income credit, child tax credit, or if there's a significant change in income from previous years. While they say 60 days, in my experience working with clients, it typically takes 45-120 days depending on their backlog and what they're specifically reviewing.

I got the 4464C letter back in January for my 2023 return. They were reviewing my EITC claim since I had a new dependent. Took about 82 days total but I finally got my refund last week! The waiting is brutal but hang in there. One thing that helped was setting up informed delivery so I could see if any mail was coming from the IRS without having to wait for it to actually arrive.
