570 code on IRS transcript since 3/24, facing financial hardship with truck payment due soon. Need advice on expediting refund!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my tax refund and could use some advice. I filed my taxes on February 1st and got verified on March 3rd. Since March 24th, I've had a 570 code on my account, but no other codes or notices. The thing is, I'm behind on my truck payments and only have a grace period until early June. I really need this refund to catch up. Has anyone been in a similar situation or know how to speed up the process? I'm thinking about calling the IRS to explain my hardship, but I'm not sure what to say or if it'll even help. Any tips would be appreciated!

Oof, that's a tough spot. I've been there before. Here's what I'd suggest: • Call the IRS ASAP and explain your hardship • Use the magic words "financial hardship" when you talk to them • Have all your docs ready - tax return, verification date, and proof of your truck payment deadline • Ask if they can expedite your refund due to your situation • Be super polite but persistent • If the first person can't help, politely ask to speak with a supervisor Good luck! The IRS can be a pain, but sometimes they do come through when you're in a bind.

•This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of who you talk to and when. It can help if you need to follow up later.

•True, getting through can be a nightmare. I usually try calling right when they open or just before closing time. Sometimes that works better.

•Preach! 🙌 It's like we're all in the same sinking boat and the IRS is just watching from the shore

Have you tried reaching out to your local taxpayer advocate? They can sometimes help push things along when you're facing a hardship.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did you have to wait before they connected you?

•It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to that awful hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

570 code usually means they're reviewing your return. Could be identity verification or they need more info. Did you get any letters in the mail?

•Nope, no letters at all. That's part of whats so frustrating. I feel like I'm in limbo.

•Ugh, that sucks. Definitely try calling then. Sometimes they forget to send the letter 🤦♂️

•Yeah, I checked but it just shows the 570 code from 3/24. No other updates 😕

This might sound crazy, but have you tried reaching out to your local congressperson's office? I was stuck in IRS limbo for months and their office helped me get it sorted out in like 2 weeks!

•Wait, fr? How does that even work? 🤔

•Yeah, for real! They have staff who deal with constituent services. You just call their office, explain your situation, and they can sometimes intervene with federal agencies on your behalf. It's like having a VIP hotline to the IRS lol

•Can confirm. My sister did this last year when she had issues with her stimulus check. It's legit!

Ugh, I feel for you. The IRS is so backed up this year its ridiculous. I filed in February and just got my refund last week. Hang in there!

Pro tip: if you do get through to someone, ask them to put a note on your account about the financial hardship. It might help if someone else looks at your case later.

•This! 💯 It helped me when I was in a similar situation last year.
