570 Code dated 3/4/2024 with No 971 - When Will My Transcript Update?
I got a 570 code dated exactly 3/4/2024 on my transcript but there's still no update. It's been 23 days since that code appeared. I don't see any 971 notice code either which seems weird from what I've read. I'm trying to figure out when my transcript will finally update? I need this refund soon for some moving expenses after graduation. I've checked my transcript exactly 8 times in the past week and nothing's changed at all.

The 570 is a freeze code. Without the 971 notice, it usually means they're just verifying something internally. In my experience, these typically resolve within 30 days. You're at 23 days now, so you're likely close. Check your transcript again this coming Friday - that's when most updates happen. The lack of a 971 is actually good news - means they don't need anything from you.

•Any chance this could be related to ID verification? My bro had the same thing happen and turns out he needed to verify ASAP but never got the letter! OP should def check their IRS online acct too, not just transcripts!

•I had the exact same situation - 570 code from early March with no 971. I checked the IRS2Go app daily and randomly got my deposit on April 2nd without any transcript updates beforehand. Check out the IRS refund status page here: https://www.irs.gov/refunds - sometimes WMR updates before transcripts do.

•I had a similar situation last year, though I'm not entirely certain it was identical. My transcript showed a 570 code with no accompanying 971 notice code. After approximately three weeks, the transcript updated and my refund was processed shortly thereafter. I believe the internal verification process can vary in duration depending on the specific elements they're reviewing.

I'm so frustrated for you! I had a 570 code on March 1st and was FREAKING OUT because I really needed my refund. I checked literally every single day and nothing changed for 27 days straight! Then suddenly on day 28 - BOOM - everything updated at once and I got my refund 2 days later. The waiting is the absolute worst part! Have you tried calling them yet?

I went through something similar this filing season! Here's what happened with mine: 1. Filed on February 2nd 2. Got accepted same day 3. Saw 570 code appear March 5th 4. No 971 code appeared either 5. Waited exactly 31 days with no changes 6. Transcript suddenly updated April 5th 7. Refund deposited April 8th I was shocked by how complicated it all was! The IRS systems seem to batch process these holds in 30-day cycles. You're at 23 days, so you're approaching that window. Hang in there!

Have you tried calling the IRS directly? The 570 without 971 could mean several things - they might be verifying income, checking for identity issues, or just backlogged. When I needed answers about my 570 code last month, I tried calling for 3 days straight but couldn't get through. Then I used Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) and got connected to an IRS agent in about 15 minutes. They confirmed my issue was just a random verification that would resolve automatically. Have you noticed any other codes on your transcript besides the 570?

•Is paying for a service to call the IRS really worth it? Couldn't you just keep calling yourself or schedule an appointment at a local office? I'm curious what they told you that wasn't available on the IRS website already.

•I was skeptical about Claimyr too, but after my experience: • Spent 4 hours on hold over 2 days with no success • Used Claimyr and got through in 17 minutes • Agent found a mismatch in my reported income • Issue resolved in one call • Refund processed 5 days later Sometimes getting a human on the phone makes all the difference.

•How much does it cost? Is it a one-time fee? I've been trying to reach someone for weeks.

Be careful with that 570 code! I had one appear on March 12th, 2023 and I made the mistake of just waiting. After exactly 45 days with no update, I finally called on April 26th and found out they needed verification documents from me, but the letter had never arrived! I ended up not getting my refund until June 3rd. Don't be like me - if you don't see movement by April 15th (that's 42 days from your code date), definitely call them to check what's happening!

I know it feels like your refund is stuck in the IRS version of the Bermuda Triangle right now, but don't worry too much! 😂 I had a 570 code on February 18th with no 971 either. My refund showed up exactly 32 days later without any additional transcript updates beforehand. The IRS works in mysterious ways, but they usually get there eventually. Just keep checking on Fridays and Wednesdays - those are the main update days. Your graduation money is coming soon!

I'm in a similar boat! Got my 570 code on March 6th (so 21 days now) and also no 971 notice. Reading everyone's experiences here is actually really reassuring - sounds like most people see movement around the 28-32 day mark. I've been obsessively checking my transcript too, but I'm going to try to limit myself to just Fridays and Wednesdays like Sophia suggested. The waiting game is brutal when you need that money! Fingers crossed we both see updates soon. Keep us posted on what happens with yours!

•Hey Oliver! I'm actually new to this whole tax thing (just graduated college myself), but reading through everyone's experiences here has been super helpful. It's crazy how similar our timelines are - you're at 21 days and the original poster is at 23 days. From what I'm gathering, it sounds like the 28-32 day range is when things typically start moving. I'm definitely going to bookmark this thread and check back to see how both of your situations turn out. Good luck with your refund!

This is so helpful to read everyone's experiences! I'm dealing with something similar - got a 570 code on March 8th (so 19 days ago) and have been checking my transcript obsessively. Like you Matthew, I really need this refund soon for some unexpected medical bills. It's reassuring to see that most people here got their refunds resolved in the 28-32 day timeframe even without a 971 notice. I'm going to try to be more patient and just check on Fridays like others suggested. The waiting is definitely the hardest part when you're counting on that money! Thanks for sharing your situation - it helps to know we're not alone in this.

•Hey Aisha! I'm pretty new to dealing with tax stuff too, but it's been really comforting to read through everyone's stories here. It sounds like you, Oliver, and Matthew are all in pretty similar situations with your 570 codes and timing. From what I'm seeing, it seems like the IRS just takes their sweet time with these internal reviews, but most people here got their refunds between 28-32 days. I hope your medical bills situation works out okay - that sounds really stressful on top of waiting for the refund. Fingers crossed all of you see some movement soon!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Got my 570 code on March 10th (so 17 days ago) and like everyone else here, no 971 notice either. Reading through all these experiences is actually making me feel so much better - it seems like the 28-32 day window is pretty consistent for most people. I was getting really anxious because I need my refund to help with some car repairs, but seeing that Matthew, Oliver, and Aisha are all in similar boats with similar timelines gives me hope. It's wild how the IRS just leaves us all hanging without any real communication about what's happening! I'm going to follow the advice about only checking on Fridays and Wednesdays instead of obsessing over it daily. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories - this community is a lifesaver when you're stressed about money!

•Welcome to the 570 code waiting club, Liam! 😅 As someone who's completely new to all this tax stuff, it's honestly been such a relief finding this thread and seeing how common this situation actually is. It's pretty amazing how similar everyone's timelines are - you're at 17 days, Aisha at 19, Oliver at 21, and Matthew at 23 days. The pattern seems really consistent across everyone's experiences here. I've been learning so much just from reading through all the comments, especially about those Friday/Wednesday update schedules that people keep mentioning. Car repairs are no joke expense-wise, so I totally get the stress! From what I'm gathering, it sounds like we're all just in this weird IRS limbo period, but the 28-32 day resolution window gives me hope that relief is coming soon for all of you. Thanks for sharing - it really helps knowing there are others going through the exact same thing!

I'm completely new to dealing with taxes (just filed for the first time this year), but reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly reassuring! It's fascinating how consistent the timelines are - Matthew at 23 days, Oliver at 21, Aisha at 19, and Liam at 17 days, all with 570 codes and no 971 notices. As someone who's still learning about all these codes and processes, this thread has been like a crash course in IRS procedures. The 28-32 day resolution window that keeps coming up across different people's stories seems really promising. I don't have a refund pending myself, but I wanted to thank everyone for sharing their experiences so openly - it's creating such a helpful resource for people navigating this stressful situation. Wishing all of you quick resolutions and hoping those refunds come through soon!

•Hi Demi! I'm also pretty new to this whole tax situation - just started filing my own returns recently. It's been so helpful reading through everyone's experiences here! The consistency in these 570 code timelines is really striking when you see it all laid out like this. I've been taking notes on all the advice people have shared, especially about checking transcripts only on Fridays and Wednesdays instead of obsessively checking daily (guilty as charged on that one!). It's amazing how this community comes together to help each other navigate these confusing IRS processes. Even though I'm not dealing with a 570 code myself right now, I'm definitely bookmarking this thread for future reference - you never know when this knowledge might come in handy!

This thread has been so incredibly helpful! I'm new to this community and dealing with my first major tax issue. Got a 570 code on March 7th (20 days ago) and like everyone else here, no 971 notice. I was honestly panicking until I found this discussion - seeing the consistent 28-32 day resolution timeline across so many different people's experiences has given me so much peace of mind. It's amazing how the IRS just leaves us all in the dark with these codes! I need my refund for some student loan payments, so the waiting has been really stressful. But reading Matthew's situation and seeing Oliver, Aisha, and Liam all going through the same thing with such similar timelines makes me feel like I'm not alone in this. Going to follow everyone's advice about only checking Fridays and Wednesdays instead of driving myself crazy with daily checks. Thanks to this whole community for sharing your experiences - you've probably saved my sanity!

•Welcome to the community, Zoe! I'm also pretty new here and this thread has been such an eye-opener. It's incredible how many people are dealing with the exact same situation - you're at 20 days, which puts you right in the middle of everyone else's timeline. The student loan payment pressure is real, so I totally understand the stress! What's been really reassuring to me is seeing how consistent everyone's experiences are with these 570 codes. It seems like the IRS has some kind of internal review process that just takes time, but based on all the stories here, it looks like you're getting close to that 28-32 day window where things typically start moving. I've been learning so much just from following this discussion - definitely going to remember all this advice for future reference!

As a newcomer to this community, I have to say this thread has been incredibly informative! I'm currently dealing with my first 570 code situation - got mine on March 11th (so 16 days ago) and like everyone else here, no 971 notice. I was completely lost about what this meant until I found this discussion. Reading through Matthew's original post and seeing how many others (Oliver at 21 days, Aisha at 19, Liam at 17, Zoe at 20) are all experiencing nearly identical situations with such similar timelines is both reassuring and eye-opening. The consistent 28-32 day resolution pattern that keeps appearing across everyone's stories gives me hope that we're all approaching the light at the end of the tunnel. I need my refund to help cover some unexpected home repairs, so the waiting has been nerve-wracking, but this community has provided so much valuable insight. Going to follow the advice about limiting transcript checks to Fridays and Wednesdays instead of my current daily obsession! Thank you all for sharing your experiences so openly - it's made this stressful process so much more manageable.

•Hi Anastasia! Welcome to the community! I'm also completely new to all this tax stuff and stumbled across this thread while trying to understand what's going on with my own situation. It's really amazing how many people are dealing with essentially the same thing - you're at 16 days, which fits perfectly into the pattern everyone else is describing. Home repairs are such a stressful unexpected expense, so I totally get why you need that refund! What's been really helpful for me is seeing how organized everyone's timelines are when you look at them all together - it really does seem like there's some kind of systematic 28-32 day review process the IRS goes through. I've been taking notes on all the advice people have shared here, especially about those specific update days. This community has been such a lifesaver for understanding these confusing IRS procedures! Fingers crossed your refund comes through soon along with everyone else's!

As someone completely new to this community and filing taxes for the first time, this thread has been absolutely invaluable! I'm not currently dealing with a 570 code myself, but reading through everyone's experiences has been like getting a masterclass in how the IRS actually works. The consistency across all your timelines is remarkable - Matthew at 23 days, Oliver at 21, Aisha at 19, Zoe at 20, Liam at 17, and Anastasia at 16 days, all with the same 570 code and no 971 notice pattern. What strikes me most is how the 28-32 day resolution window keeps appearing in story after story from different people. It really seems like the IRS has some kind of internal batched review process that just takes time, regardless of individual circumstances. I'm bookmarking this thread for future reference because the advice about checking transcripts only on Fridays and Wednesdays (instead of daily obsessing) and the insights about what different codes mean have been so educational. Thank you all for being so open about your situations - you're creating an amazing resource for people navigating these stressful financial situations. Hoping everyone sees their refunds come through soon!
