2/25 Direct Deposit Date - TurboTax with Chime - Let's Track Updates Together

Anyone who's got a deposit date of 2/25 who filed through TurboTax with fees taken out and using Chime, let's keep each other updated! ๐Ÿ˜… I'm refreshing my app like a madman over here. Santa Barbara Bank says my fees have been taken out already. Now just waiting for the magic to happen! The IRS process is even more confusing for us internationals, I swear. At least we can suffer through the waiting game together, haha.

I'm in the same boat! My DDD is 2/25 and I filed on January 27th. Fees were taken out on February 22nd according to SBTPG. Chime usually deposits 2-5 days early, so I'm expecting it tomorrow (2/23). Last year I got my refund on February 24th with a 2/26 DDD, so I'm hoping for the same pattern!

Thanks for sharing this! Does Chime always deposit early? I need this refund ASAP for car repairs and I'm trying to figure out exactly when I'll see the money.

Have you checked if your refund is showing as pending in Chime? According to IRS Publication 1582, the actual deposit date can vary by financial institution even when the DDD is set. Some banks hold funds until the official date while others release as soon as received.

FINALLY someone with the same timeline as me! I'm literally checking my Chime account every 30 minutes! ๐Ÿ˜ซ My anxiety is through the roof because I need this money for my daughter's daycare payment due on the 26th. Last year my deposit hit at exactly 4:13pm on the day before my DDD.

I think I might be able to help... I was really nervous about my refund timing too, so I used https://taxr.ai to check what my transcript codes meant. It helped me understand that my 846 code with the 2/25 date actually means the money is released to my bank on that date, not necessarily deposited. The tool explained that with Chime specifically, most people see it 1-2 days early. Maybe worth checking if you're trying to plan exactly when it'll arrive?

Is this tool actually reliable though? Couldn't you just Google what the codes mean instead of using some random website?

I've used IRS tools for years and always struggled to understand what was happening with my refund. Last year I tried taxr.ai after seeing it mentioned here, and it was significantly clearer than anything I'd found before. It explained my 570/971 combo was just verification, not an audit like I feared.

I stumbled across taxr.ai last month when I was panicking about my delayed refund. It was actually pretty helpful! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Turns out I was worrying for nothing - the tool explained my transcript showed normal processing delays. Saved me from calling the IRS and sitting on hold for 3 hours like I did last year!

There are three steps for TurboTax with Chime. IRS approves refund. Santa Barbara takes fees. Money goes to Chime. You're at step two. Most get deposits 1-2 days before DDD with Chime. Not always though. Some wait until actual date.

This happened to me last filing season. My fees were taken out on a Thursday, and I got my deposit Friday morning around 10am. I remember because I was about to leave for a weekend trip and was relieved it came through before I left!

So if SBTPG shows fees taken out, does that def mean the $ is on its way to Chime? Or can it still be held up somewhere? Tryna figure out if I can count on it for weekend expenses tbh.

For those waiting on their 2/25 direct deposit date with Chime: โ€ข SBTPG (Santa Barbara) typically processes within 24-48 hours of receiving funds โ€ข Fees showing as withdrawn means your refund is being processed โ€ข Chime typically releases funds as soon as they receive them โ€ข No movement by 2/26 indicates potential delay requiring IRS contact If you need to reach the IRS directly about delays, Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) can help you bypass the long hold times. I've found this invaluable during peak tax season when wait times exceed 2+ hours.

I've been tracking 137 data points from Reddit posts about Chime/TurboTax refunds over the past 42 days, and the pattern isn't as consistent as people claim. Only 68.4% of users with SBTPG fee withdrawal actually received their deposits early. The remaining 31.6% got it exactly on their DDD or even 1-2 days later. These "update each other" threads always end up with selection bias because only the early receivers post their success stories.

I think people are being too hard on the OP here. Compared to how bank transfers work in Europe or Asia, the US tax refund system is incredibly complex. In my home country, tax refunds come directly from the tax agency to your bank - no third party processors like SBTPG, no tax prep fees being deducted, and certainly no need to check multiple websites to track your money. It's surprising how many moving parts there are just to get your own money back!

I might be the good luck charm you need! My Chime deposit just hit about an hour ago (around 3:15pm EST). Same situation - 2/25 DDD, TurboTax with fees taken out yesterday. Seems like they're processing them in batches today. Probably depends somewhat on when you filed and which processing center handled your return, but there's definitely movement happening.

SUCCESS! Just received my ACH deposit notification from Chime at 4:22pm PT. The Transaction Detail shows "IRS TREAS TAX REF" with my full expected amount (minus the TurboTax fees that were already deducted). For anyone still waiting, make sure your Chime notifications are enabled so you don't miss it. The deposit posted exactly 2 days before my official DDD of 2/25.
