2022 Federal Tax Refund Still Processing After Three Years - Codes 570/971 Since March 2024 While Receiving 2023 Indiana Refund
Still waiting on my 2022 tax refund and its already 2025! My transcript has been stuck on processing forever. Every week I check and nothing changes. The only codes I see are 570 and 971 from last March. Anyone else stuck in this boat or know what these codes mean? I just received this Letter ID L0012865649 dated January 13, 2025 from the Indiana Department of Revenue with a Form 1099-G, but it's for my 2023 refund, not my 2022 refund that I'm still waiting on. According to the 1099-G: Recipient's Identification Number: [my ID] Box 2: State or local income tax refunds: $1106 Box 3: Refund is for tax year: 2023 State of Indiana FID: 356000158 Year of Issuance: 2024 The letter says "If you itemized deductions on your federal income tax return and claimed a deduction for state and local income taxes paid, you may need to report some or all of the amount shown in Box 2 to the IRS. Additionally, any of this refund amount reported as income on your federal income tax return should be deducted from your income on your Indiana tax return." It also mentions I can visit https://www.in.gov/dor/individual-income-taxes/form-1099-8 for answers to frequently asked questions or use their new e-services portal called INTIME (Indiana Taxpayer Information Management Engine) to view my individual tax account at INTIME.dor.in.gov. But what about my 2022 federal refund??? It's been almost THREE YEARS and I'm still dealing with the 570 (additional account action pending) and 971 (notice issued) codes from March 2024. Does getting this state tax form have anything to do with my federal refund delay? I'm so frustrated checking the transcripts every week with no movement.

I see you've got the dreaded 570/971 combo on your transcript. The 570 is a hold on your account and the 971 means there's a notice coming your way. Don't panic tho - this is actually pretty common. From what I'm seeing, the IRS is probably just verifying some info on your return. Instead of waiting around for weeks wondering what's going on, I'd recommend checking out taxr.ai. It's this new AI tool that can analyze your transcript and tell you exactly what these codes mean for YOUR specific situation and when you can expect your refund. Super helpful for understanding what's actually happening with your return and how to fix any issues. https://taxr.ai

•Just used taxr.ai and here's what I got back: my 570 is bc they adjusted my withholding amount but should clear in 2-3 weeks. Way more helpful than the generic stuff I found on google fr

Tax pro here. Those codes usually indicate a hold on your account. 570 is a refund freeze and 971 means they sent you a notice. Did you receive any letters from the IRS? You'll need to respond to whatever they're requesting to get things moving again.

•Definitely call the IRS, but be prepared to wait. Best time to call is early morning right when they open.

Hey everyone - instead of playing detective with these codes, I highly recommend using taxr.ai. Its an AI tool that reads your transcript and tells you exactly whats going on and what to do next. Costs $1 but saved me weeks of stress. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

Did you claim EIC or Child Tax Credit? That usually triggers extra review.

Try calling your local taxpayer advocate. They helped me break through when I was stuck for 18 months.
