DEO benefits running out - need remote work ASAP while waiting for adjudication

Just got my final DEO payment today and my heart is racing. My claim status changed to 'pending adjudication' last week with no explanation. I can't afford to wait weeks for this to resolve - bills are piling up! Has anyone found legitimate part-time remote work while dealing with DEO issues? I've tried the usual job sites but keep finding scams. I need something flexible since I still have to do my 5 work searches weekly to maintain eligibility once adjudication clears. Any suggestions for remote jobs that hire quickly? I have customer service experience but open to anything at this point.

The DEO system is a JOKE!!! I was stuck in 'adjudication' for 9 WEEKS while they 'reviewed' my case. No money, no communication, NOTHING! Don't count on them fixing it anytime soon. I ended up delivering for DoorDash which isn't technically remote but lets you work your own hours. Just remember to REPORT ANY INCOME to DEO or they'll hit you with an overpayment notice later!!

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm worried about DoorDash because my car isn't very reliable right now. Did you have to report each daily earning or just weekly totals to DEO?

I found a legitimate customer service job through Concentrix about 2 months ago when my benefits were delayed. They hire for remote positions pretty regularly and the onboarding was quick (about 1 week). Pay isn't amazing but it's steady. Just make sure you track your hours carefully for your DEO reports - I enter mine every week on the CONNECT system under 'report wages'. Also check ratracerebellion.com for vetted WFH listings.

Thank you! I'll check out Concentrix today. Did they require any special equipment or just a computer and headset?

same boat last year... transcription work helped me. Rev.com and TranscribeMe hire pretty quick

I'll look into those sites - never considered transcription before. Thanks!

not to hijack but does anyone know if working part time affects how long adjudication takes? i worked a few shifts at walmart while waiting and my claim has been under review for 3 months now

Working part-time shouldn't directly affect your adjudication timeframe. The DEO reviews each case independently based on the specific issues flagged. However, any new income information does need to be processed, which sometimes creates additional fact-finding steps. Make sure all your work search activities and income reports are submitted accurately each week.

I faced a similar situation back in January - final payment went through and then suddenly my account showed 'pending adjudication' with zero explanation. I tried calling DEO for weeks with no luck - constant busy signals and disconnections. Finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual DEO agent within 30 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj The agent was able to tell me exactly what was holding up my claim (a former employer had contested it) and gave me a timeline for resolution. Meanwhile, I found temp work through Robert Half - they have remote customer service and data entry positions that can start quickly.

Thanks for the Claimyr tip! I've been trying to get through to DEO for days with no luck. And I'll definitely check out Robert Half - didn't realize they had remote positions available.

Be super careful with remote jobs right now!!! I was desperate last month when my benefits went on hold and almost fell for a check cashing scam that looked like a legitimate data entry job. They sent me a check to "buy equipment" and wanted me to send part of it back. Classic scam! Legitimate employers never send you money upfront or ask you to purchase anything with their funds. Try checking with CareerSource Florida too - they sometimes have leads on remote work and can help update your resume.

That's scary - thanks for the warning! I've been suspicious of anything that seems too good to be true. I'll contact CareerSource this week.

While searching for remote work is certainly practical in your situation, I'd also recommend focusing on resolving your adjudication issue as quickly as possible. There are several common reasons claims go into adjudication: employment separation issues, income verification problems, work search compliance, or identity verification concerns. Check your CONNECT inbox and Determination/Pending Issue Summary section to see if there are any fact-finding questionnaires you need to complete. If there's nothing there, your best option is to speak directly with a DEO representative. Regarding remote work: besides the suggestions already mentioned, check USAJobs.gov for federal remote positions, VIPKid for teaching English online (if you have a bachelor's degree), and Lionbridge or Appen for flexible evaluation projects. Just remember that in Florida, you must report any earnings when claiming weeks, and your benefits will be reduced accordingly based on their formula.

I checked my CONNECT account again and found a fact-finding questionnaire hidden in a weird spot that I completely missed! Maybe this is what's holding things up. Thanks for the remote work suggestions too - I do have a bachelor's degree so I'll check out VIPKid today.
