CONFUSED: DEO deposited $800 before my scheduled claim date - is this normal?
Hey everyone, something weird just happened. I woke up to find $800 deposited in my account from DEO, but my regular claim date isn't until the 15th (which is 4 days away). I haven't claimed any weeks yet for this period! I'm freaking out a little because I don't want to get hit with an overpayment later. Has the DEO changed their system or something? Should I still claim on the 15th like normal? I'm worried they'll think I'm double-dipping if I claim again. Anyone else experienced this?

•Did you end up having to pay it back? I'm really nervous about this!

This is most likely a payment from a previous claim week that was held up in adjudication or fact-finding and finally got approved. Check your CONNECT payment history under "View and Maintain Account Information" and look for which weeks this payment covers. You should absolutely still claim on your regular date of the 15th - those will be different weeks than what this payment covers.

•Thank you! I'll check CONNECT right now. I did have a week in adjudication about a month ago that I never heard back about.

CALL THE DEO IMMEDIATELY!!! This could be a system error and if you don't report it they WILL hit you with an overpayment notice plus penalties later. The DEO doesn't just randomly send money early. Their system is too broken to be that nice lol. They messed up my payments THREE TIMES last year and I'm still fighting to get it resolved!!!

•I've tried calling but keep getting the automated message saying all agents are busy. It's so frustrating!

After dealing with DEO payment issues for months, I finally got through to an agent using Claimyr. It actually works - you enter your number on claimyr.com and they call you back when they get a DEO agent on the line. Saved me days of redial hell. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj. Worth it when you need answers about unexpected payments like this that could cause problems later.

I work at CareerSource Florida and see this regularly. Here's what's happening: DEO is catching up on a backlog of adjudications from January-February. Many claims that were held pending verification are being batch-processed. You likely had a pending week from a previous claim period that was just approved. You should: 1. Check your CONNECT account payment history to confirm which weeks this covers 2. Still claim your regular weeks on the 15th as scheduled 3. Print your payment history for your records (screenshot if you can't print) There's no need to call unless the payment history doesn't show this payment or if the weeks it lists don't make sense with your claim history.

•Just checked CONNECT and you're right! It shows payment for a week from last month that was under review. Thank you so much for explaining this!

This happened to my cousin and it was because he answered one of the work search questions wrong and they had to manually review it. Then when they finally approved it they just dumped all the money at once instead of on the regular schedule. He still claimed his normal weeks after and everything was fine.

never trust unexpected money from DEO. I got a random deposit once and spent it then got hit with a $1200 overpayment notice 3 months later. now they take 25% of every payment to pay it back. call them!!!!!

•THIS!!! The DEO's mistakes always become YOUR problem! Their computer system is from like 1995 and they make errors constantly!

UPDATE: I finally got into my payment history section on CONNECT and found that this payment was for a week from about 6 weeks ago that had been marked as 'pending adjudication' because I had reported some part-time income. Looks like they finally approved it and released the payment. I'm still going to claim as normal on the 15th since those are different weeks. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Glad you figured it out! This is exactly what I suspected. The DEO is working through a backlog of adjudications right now. Make sure you keep claiming on your regular schedule for current weeks.
