SDI payment delay this week - April 2025 deposit missing with no online update

Is anyone else's State Disability Insurance payment late this week? I've been on SDI for 3 months after my surgery and payments have been super consistent - hitting my account every Wednesday around 9pm like clockwork. Well, it's now Thursday afternoon and nothing has shown up in my bank account. The weird part is when I log into my SDI Online portal, there's no payment even showing as issued for this week. Usually it at least shows as 'paid' in the system before it hits my account. I'm getting really stressed because my rent is due Monday and I was counting on this payment. I tried calling the SDI customer service line but got the dreaded 'all representatives are currently busy' message and it disconnected me after 45 minutes on hold. Has anyone experienced payment delays recently or know if there's some system issue happening? I'm wondering if I should resubmit my certification or if that would just mess things up more.

Same thing happened to me!! My SDI payment always deposits Thursday mornings and NOTHING so far today. I checked my SDI online account and it still shows my last payment from April 2nd but nothing processed for this week. Something must be going on with their system. Seriously frustrating because I have bills due and was counting on that money.

That makes me feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one. Have you tried calling them? I wonder if it's a statewide issue or just affecting some of us.

This is actually incorrect advice. If your payment doesn't show as processed in SDI Online, you should call immediately. Waiting could potentially cause further delays. The EDD systems do occasionally have delays, but they still show payments as processed in the system before they hit bank accounts.

I work in HR and we've had several employees mention SDI payment delays this week. From what I understand, EDD is experiencing some technical issues with their payment processing system that started yesterday. They haven't made any official announcements, but when I called my contact at EDD (we have a special employer line), they confirmed they're working on resolving it. My advice: 1. Don't resubmit any certifications - this could actually flag your account for review and cause more delays 2. Keep checking your SDI Online portal for updates 3. If you don't see a payment processed by tomorrow (Friday), definitely call them This is apparently affecting both SDI and regular unemployment payments, though not everyone is impacted.

Thank you so much for this information! It's such a relief to know it's a system issue and not something wrong with my specific claim. I'll keep monitoring my portal. Do you know if they're planning to get all payments out before the weekend?

YOU ALL NEED TO CALL!!! This happened to me in February and it was because they randomly decided to "review" my claim again even though I'd been getting paid for months! When I finally got through to someone, they cleared whatever flag was on my account and paid me THE SAME DAY. Don't just sit around waiting - call them ASAP!!! The EDD NEVER lets you know when there's a problem with your claim, they just stop paying and hope you don't notice or something!!!

When this happened to me last month (UI not SDI but same payment system), I used a service called Claimyr to get through to an EDD agent right away. I was skeptical but it actually worked - got me connected with an agent in about 15 minutes instead of calling for days. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The agent told me there was a small issue with my certification that week that needed manual review. Nothing I did wrong, just their system being weird. She fixed it while I was on the phone and my payment processed that same day. Worth it to get actual answers instead of stressing about it.

Thanks for the tip! I've been trying to call again today with no luck. I might try this if I don't see an update by tomorrow. Did they explain why the payment wasn't showing in your online account at all?

There's currently a known issue with the SDI payment processing system affecting some (not all) claimants this week. According to the EDD website status page, they're experiencing technical difficulties with their payment batch processing that started on Tuesday evening. This is affecting both SDI and UI payments. For SDI specifically: 1. If your payment doesn't show as processed in your SDI Online account, the system hasn't processed it yet 2. You don't need to resubmit certifications 3. This is affecting approximately 22% of claimants this week (based on their update) Their estimate is that all payments will be processed by end of day Friday. If you don't see your payment processed in the system by Monday morning, then you should definitely contact them directly as your issue might be different from this system-wide delay.

Where exactly do you see this on their website??? I just checked and there's NOTHING about any system issues or delays! They NEVER admit when their system breaks down!! And their phone lines are IMPOSSIBLE to get through on!

@confused_SDI_claimant - It's on their technical status page, not the main website. If you go to edd.ca.gov/about_edd/system_status.htm you'll see the update. They posted it late yesterday. And yes, their phone system is definitely overwhelmed. If you absolutely need to speak with someone, you might want to try the Claimyr service mentioned above or call right when they open at 8:00 AM. The technical issues page says they've added extra staff to handle calls about the payment delay.

Just checked the status page and confirmed it does mention the payment processing delay. Thanks for pointing this out! Hopefully this really is fixed by Friday as they claim.

UPDATE: My payment just showed up as processed in the SDI Online portal about 10 minutes ago! It says payment issued 4/17/2025 (today), so it should hit my account overnight or tomorrow morning. Check your portals everyone - looks like they're starting to process the delayed payments!

Mine is showing as processed now too! What a relief. Though I really wish they'd communicate better about these issues. It's so stressful not knowing if or when money you depend on will arrive.

Mine is STILL not processed!!! This is exactly what happened last time before they randomly disqualified me and I had to appeal!! I'm calling again tomorrow morning!!

@Mohamed Anderson don t'panic just yet! The status page mentioned they re'processing payments in batches throughout today and tomorrow. Since some people are already seeing theirs processed, it sounds like they re'working through the backlog. Maybe try checking again in a few hours before calling? But definitely call tomorrow morning if it s'still not showing as processed by then.

Just wanted to chime in as someone who's been dealing with EDD/SDI for over a year now. This exact same thing happened to me back in January - payment didn't show up on the usual day, nothing in the online portal, and I was freaking out because I had rent due. Turns out it was a system glitch that affected a bunch of people. My payment ended up processing about 48 hours late. The key thing I learned is to NOT resubmit anything during these delays - it can actually trigger a manual review of your account which takes way longer to resolve. Just keep monitoring your SDI Online portal. If it shows as processed there, the money will hit your account within 1-2 business days. If it's still not showing as processed by Monday, then definitely call. Also, for anyone struggling to get through on the phones - try calling exactly at 8:00 AM when they open. I've had much better luck getting through in the first 30 minutes of the day. Hang in there everyone, these technical hiccups are frustrating but they usually resolve pretty quickly!
