Need help filing new unemployment claim - what docs do I need?
Hey everyone, I need to file a new claim and I'm not sure where to start. I just finished my last job and I want to make sure I have all the right information before I call. Anyone have experience with this? What kind of documents do I need to have ready?

Make sure you have your last day of work handy. They'll definitely ask for that. Also, gather up your pay stubs from the last 18 months if you can. It'll make the process go smoother.

•This ☝️ Having all your employment info ready is key. Don't forget your social security number too!

•@profile 3 Yikes, that might be tricky. You should report all income, even if it's cash. Maybe try to estimate as best you can?

Ugh, filing a new claim is such a headache. I swear the system is designed to be confusing on purpose. Good luck, OP!

I just went through this last month. Here's what you need: • Exact dates of employment for the last 18 months • Employer names and addresses • Reason for separation from each job • Your driver's license or state ID number • Your alien registration number if you're not a US citizen Also, be prepared for a long wait time when you call. It took me hours to get through.

•Wow, thank you so much! This is super helpful. Did you have any issues with the online system or is it better to call?

•Honestly, the online system can be hit or miss. I ended up calling because I had some specific questions. Just be patient!

•This! And avoid Mondays if you can. Everyone and their mom calls on Mondays 🤦♂️

I found a way to get someone on the phone without the crazy wait times. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. •Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yep, totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•Wait, we have to PAY to talk to someone now? This system is so broken 😡

•@profile 10 I get it, it's frustrating. But for me, paying $20 was better than wasting a whole day on hold. Just sharing what worked for me!
