Just laid off today - Tips for filing new EDD claim?
Hey everyone, I just got laid off today and I'm planning to file for unemployment. Anyone have any tips for filing a new claim? What should I have ready when I call the EDD? I'm kinda nervous about the whole process.

Sorry to hear about your job loss. Make sure you have all your employment details ready: - Your last employer's name and address - Reason for separation (layoff in your case) - Last day of work - Wage information Also, be prepared for a long wait time when calling EDD. It can be frustrating, but stay patient!

•Thanks for the info! Yeah, I've heard the wait times can be brutal. Guess I'll have to set aside a whole day for this 😩

•Ugh, the wait times are the WORST. I spent like 3 days trying to get through last month. Good luck!

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Sometimes you can get through faster that way.

I found a way to skip the hold times! There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls EDD for you, waits on hold, and then connects you when an agent picks up. It costs $20 but saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it worked like a charm. Saved me so much time and headache.

•For me it was. I wasted way more than $20 worth of time trying to get through on my own. But yeah, everyone's situation is different.

Just a heads up, sometimes they ask about your work search efforts. Keep a log of places you've applied to, it'll make things easier down the line.

Don't forget to check if you qualify for any other benefits while you're at it. Sometimes there are additional programs or resources available depending on your situation.

Anyone know if the online filing system is working better these days? Last time I tried it was a nightmare.

•It's hit or miss. I filed online last month and it went smoothly, but I've heard others still having issues.
