How to update EDD claim for further reduced hours? Need advice ASAP!
Hey everyone, I need some advice. I filed for unemployment a while back, but since then my work hours have been cut even more. I'm not sure how to update my claim to reflect this change. Has anyone gone through something similar? What's the best way to handle this situation?

I've been in the same boat. You definitely want to report those reduced hours ASAP. It could affect your benefits. When you talk to them, make sure you have your recent pay stubs handy. They'll probably want to see proof of the change.

•This is good advice. I learned the hard way that not reporting changes can lead to overpayment issues later on. 😬 Better to be proactive!

•Thanks for the tip! I'll gather my pay stubs before I call. Do you know if there's a specific form I need to fill out for this kind of update?

•Nah, no specific form that I know of. Just call and explain the situation. They'll guide you through it. Good luck! 👍

Ugh, the unemployment system is such a mess rn. I tried updating my claim last month and got stuck on hold for HOURS. 🙄 Anyone know a better way to get through?

•I found a way! There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me so much time and frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I was skeptical too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Totally worth the 20 bucks imho.

•Idk man, paying to get through to a government service feels wrong somehow. But I guess if it works... 🤷♂️

Listen up, because this is important: 1. Document EVERYTHING. Keep a record of your hours, pay stubs, and any communication with your employer. 2. Contact the unemployment office ASAP. Don't wait, as this could affect your benefits. 3. Be prepared for a long wait. The system is overwhelmed right now. 4. When you get through, explain your situation clearly. Ask if you need to file a new claim or if they can adjust your existing one. 5. If your benefits increase, don't spend the extra money right away. Sometimes they make mistakes and you might have to pay it back. 6. Keep certifying for benefits every week, even while you're waiting for the update to process. 7. If you run into issues, consider contacting your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things through. Stay persistent and don't give up. The system is frustrating, but you're entitled to these benefits. Good luck!

I'm telling you, the whole system is rigged against us. They make it so complicated on purpose so people just give up. 🤬

•Calm down, Alex Jones. It's not a conspiracy, just good old-fashioned bureaucratic incompetence. 🙄

Hey OP, just a heads up - when I updated my claim for reduced hours, it took about 3 weeks for the changes to take effect. So don't panic if you don't see an immediate change in your benefits.

•That's really good to know, thanks! Did they backpay you for those 3 weeks?

•Yep, they did backpay. Just make sure you keep certifying every week like normal.
