Got EDD call in notice response - can't reach anyone to schedule appointment
Received a notice saying I need to call EDD within 10 days to schedule a phone interview but I've been trying for 3 days straight and can't get through. The notice doesn't give a direct number, just says to call the main line. I'm following the 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern but keep getting 'too busy' message. Anyone else dealt with this call in notice response requirement? I'm worried about missing the deadline.

Same boat here! Got my notice last week and have been calling nonstop. The deadline pressure makes this so much worse. I've tried calling at 8am sharp but still no luck getting through.

•Exactly! The 10-day deadline is stressing me out. Have you tried any specific times that work better?

•Wednesday afternoons seem slightly better but still took me 67 attempts just to get the busy signal instead of immediate hangup.

Pro tip: don't waste time calling between noon and 1:30pm. The whole call center goes to lunch and nobody answers during that window. Also avoid Monday mornings - everyone calls then.

•Good to know about lunch! I was definitely calling during that time and wondering why it seemed even more impossible.

•Monday mornings are absolutely brutal. I learned that the hard way after spending 4 hours getting nowhere.

I was in your exact situation last month with the call in notice response. After 5 days of failed attempts, I used Claimyr and got through in 23 minutes. Sometimes you just can't afford to miss those deadlines.

•Is Claimyr legit? I'm getting desperate and the deadline is in 6 days.

•Totally legit. Check their reviews on Google. It's paid but way cheaper than losing benefits over a missed deadline. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10

•I was skeptical too but used it last week. Got called back with an agent in 31 minutes while I was at work. Much better than spending my entire day redialing.

The call in notice response system is broken. I've helped 3 friends with this and the manual calling success rate is maybe 10%. Most people end up calling for weeks.

•That's terrifying. What happens if you miss the 10-day deadline?

•They can suspend your benefits pending the interview. That's why so many people are desperate to get through quickly.

Here's the exact pattern I use: Call 800-300-5616, press 1 for English, wait exactly 70 seconds, then press 1-1-***. Don't press the buttons too early or it won't register properly.

Connor O'Brien
•I've been pressing the buttons as soon as I hear the prompts. Maybe that's my problem!

Leila Haddad
•Yeah, timing matters. The system needs to register each input. Also make sure you're calling between 8am-5pm Monday through Friday.

•The 70 second wait is key. I was waiting too long and it would cycle back to the main menu.

I got my call in notice response handled but it took 8 days of calling 6+ hours daily. Started at 7:55am every day and kept redialing until 5pm. Finally got through on a Thursday at 2:30pm after 89 attempts that day.

•8 days?! I don't have that kind of time with my work schedule. This is insane.

•I had to use all my sick days. The system is completely overwhelmed. Thursday afternoons do seem to be the sweet spot though.

PSA: The 833-978-7653 number and 800-300-5616 are the EXACT same line. Don't waste time trying both thinking one is better - it's the same queue.

Eduardo Silva
•Wait really? I've been alternating between them thinking it would help my odds!

•Nope, same system. Also ignore anyone saying there's a 'specialist line' - that ended after the pandemic.

The call drop rate is about 40% even when you get on hold. I've been disconnected after 2+ hour waits three times this week. It's soul crushing.

Connor O'Brien
•That's my biggest fear - waiting for hours just to get disconnected. How do you stay motivated?

Emma Johnson
•Honestly, I don't know. Coffee and rage mostly. Thinking about my bills keeps me going.

•The call drops are a known system issue they haven't fixed. It's not your phone or connection - it's their infrastructure.

For call in notice responses, you can sometimes explain the calling difficulty to the interviewer when you do get through. They understand the system is broken and may be more flexible with deadlines.

Connor O'Brien
•That's reassuring. I was worried they'd just cut me off for being late.

•Document your calling attempts - dates, times, number of tries. It shows good faith effort if there are issues.

I work from home so I can call all day. My record is 127 redial attempts in one day. Never even got on hold. This system is completely broken for people with normal schedules.

Connor O'Brien
•127 attempts in one day?! That's insane. How long did that take?
0 coins
Astrid Bergström
•About 8 hours with breaks. Each call cycle takes roughly 3-4 minutes from dial to hangup. It's basically a part-time job.

The best success I've had is calling Wednesday at exactly 2pm. Seems like that's when the most agents come back from lunch and before the afternoon rush hits.

Amina Diallo
•Wednesday at 2pm - adding that to my strategy list. Will try tomorrow.

•Still took 34 attempts but that's way better than my usual 80+. Also avoid calling after 4pm - they seem to stop answering new calls.

Update: Used Claimyr again for a friend's call in notice situation. They got their callback in 17 minutes on a Monday morning. Sometimes the paid route is the only realistic option with these deadlines.

•What does Claimyr cost? At this point I'm considering anything.

•Check claimyr.com for current pricing. Way cheaper than losing your benefits over a missed deadline. They handle all the redialing and hold time.

I've been tracking my calling data in a spreadsheet. Best success rate is Tuesday-Thursday between 1:30-3:30pm. Worst is Monday before 10am and Friday after 2pm.

•You're tracking this in a spreadsheet? That's dedication but probably smart for finding patterns.

•When you're spending 20+ hours a week calling, you start looking for any edge. Data helps me not waste time on low-probability windows.

Don't give up on the call in notice response requirement. I missed my first deadline but they let me reschedule when I explained the calling difficulties. Keep documentation of your attempts.
0 coins
Connor O'Brien
•That gives me some hope. I'm keeping a log of every time I've tried to call.

Chloe Martin
•Good! Screenshots of your call log showing the attempts can help prove you've been trying in good faith.

The mental toll of this calling process is underestimated. I've been stress-eating and losing sleep over getting through for my call in notice response. This system is inhumane.

•Yes! The anxiety is real. I wake up dreading another day of failed calling attempts.

•Same here. It's affecting my whole family because I'm so stressed and frustrated all the time.

Pro tip: Use wifi calling if you have limited cell minutes. I blew through my plan in 3 days of constant redialing before figuring this out.

Astrid Bergström
•Smart thinking! I switched to an unlimited plan just for EDD calling. Shouldn't have to do that but here we are.

•The fact that we have to strategize around phone plans to exercise our rights is ridiculous. But wifi calling definitely helps.

I finally got through for my call in notice response on day 9. The interviewer was understanding about the delay and said they see this all the time. Don't panic if you're approaching the deadline.

•Day 9?! I'm only on day 3 and already losing my mind. How did you stay motivated?

•Honestly considered giving up multiple times. What kept me going was knowing I'd lose benefits if I didn't complete the interview.

The call in notice response system worked better pre-pandemic when you could visit offices in person. Now it's all phone-based and the infrastructure can't handle the volume.

•I miss being able to just walk into an office and talk to someone face to face. This phone-only system is broken.

Zara Khan
•Exactly. A 10-minute in-person conversation is now potentially weeks of failed phone attempts. The system regressed.

Final update: Got my call in notice response completed using automated calling service. Took 28 minutes total vs the 6 days I spent trying manually. Should have done it from day 1.

Connor O'Brien
•Which service did you use? I think I'm ready to pay at this point.

•Claimyr - same one others mentioned. They call you back when an agent picks up so you don't waste time on hold. Worth every penny for the stress relief alone.

•Thanks for the update! I'm definitely going to try Claimyr tomorrow. After reading everyone's experiences here, it's clear that manual calling just isn't realistic with these tight deadlines. The stress isn't worth it when there are services that actually work.

•I'm in the exact same situation right now - day 4 of trying to get through for my call in notice response with only 6 days left on the deadline. Reading all these experiences really shows how broken this system is. I think I need to bite the bullet and use Claimyr too. The manual calling approach seems like it could easily eat up my remaining time with no guarantee of success.
