EDD reopened claim not showing in UI Online for 3 weeks - no confirmation received

I reopened my unemployment claim nearly 3 weeks ago through UI Online and I'm seriously concerned nothing happened. The system never showed a confirmation page after I submitted (just returned to the homepage), I haven't received ANY communication from EDD (no emails, no messages in my inbox, absolutely nothing in the mail), and the 'Reopen Your Claim' button is still visible and clickable in my account. I spent over an hour meticulously filling out all those employment history details and answering all the questions. Has my reopened claim disappeared into the void? Should I try reopening it again or would that mess things up worse? My rent is due next week and I'm getting really worried. Has anyone else experienced this silent treatment after reopening a claim?

same thing happened to me last month!! the reopen button stayed there for like 20 days and i got nothing, no emails no mail nothing. i was freaking out. turns out the system was just being glitchy and my claim actually DID go thru but they forgot to update the button. dont click it again!!!

That's a relief to hear it's not just me! But how did you finally figure out your claim actually went through? Did they eventually contact you?

The EDD portal is SO confusing lately. Their website has tons of glitches since they did that update in January. My cousin had the EXACT same issue and he ended up accidentally reopening his claim twice because of that stupid button still showing up!

EDD's system is CONSTANTLY malfunctioning!! I've been dealing with them since 2021 and honestly their website has only gotten WORSE after each so-called "upgrade" they do. They need to hire competent IT people instead of whatever contractors they're using now. I bet half their backlog problems aren't even about eligibility - just technical glitches eating people's claims!!!

This is a common issue with reopened claims in 2025. The UI Online system often fails to update the interface even though your claim is being processed on the backend. Here's what you should do: 1. DO NOT submit another reopening request - this will only delay processing 2. Check if you can certify for benefits on your regular certification day (even though the homepage still shows the reopen button) 3. Look at your claim history tab to see if there's any activity 4. Call EDD to confirm your claim status - this is the only way to be 100% certain The system should eventually update, but these interface issues have been occurring more frequently since their February system update.

Thank you for this detailed explanation! I checked my claim history and there's absolutely nothing new there. I've been trying to call but keep getting the automated message saying they're experiencing high call volume. I'll keep trying though since it sounds like that's the only way to know for sure.

I had the same issue trying to get through to EDD last month when my reopened claim was stuck in this weird limbo. I tried calling for days and couldn't get through. Then I discovered Claimyr service (claimyr.com) that actually got me connected to an EDD rep in about 25 minutes when I had been trying for a week with no luck. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The rep confirmed my claim WAS in their system despite no updates showing online. They manually fixed something on their end and I was able to certify the next day. Saved me weeks of anxiety!

is that service legit? sounds kinda sketchy to me

It's definitely legit! I was skeptical too but it actually works. They just help you get through the phone system to speak with a real EDD representative - the rep I talked to was 100% an actual EDD employee who had access to my claim information and fixed the issue.

Let me explain what's actually happening with reopened claims right now. EDD implemented a new processing queue in late 2024 that prioritizes new claims over reopened ones. Your claim IS likely in their system, but: 1. The UI Online frontend doesn't communicate properly with the backend processing system 2. Reopened claims currently take 3-5 weeks to process (despite EDD claiming 2-3 weeks) 3. The "Reopen Claim" button doesn't automatically disappear until your claim is fully processed What you should do is check if your claim balance shows your previous amount. If it does, that's a good sign your claim is in their system. Also check if your benefit year end date is visible anywhere. The most reliable solution is getting through to a tier 2 specialist who can manually check your claim status and fix any technical issues. Regular tier 1 reps often can't solve these interface problems.

This is SO helpful, thank you! I checked and my previous claim balance is showing, and my benefit year end date says July 2025. So it sounds like my claim probably is in their system? I'm going to try calling tomorrow and specifically ask for a tier 2 specialist to check on it.

Yeah, I've been checking spam obsessively. Nothing there either unfortunately.

Since your benefit balance and year-end date are showing, that's a very positive sign! Your claim is likely in the system. The next step is to wait for your certification weeks to appear, which should happen automatically. If you don't see certification weeks available by next Sunday, that's when I'd recommend getting an EDD representative to investigate.

That's reassuring! I'll keep an eye out for the certification weeks to appear. If I don't see anything by Sunday, I'll definitely try harder to reach a representative. Thanks for your help!

my brother had this happen and he just waited and eventually like 4 weeks later he suddenly got a bunch of weeks to certify all at once. the system is really bad but sometimes u just gotta wait it out

WAIT!! Don't just sit around hoping for the best! I made this mistake and ended up waiting 7 WEEKS before finding out my claim had been stuck in their system the whole time! Their computer flagged it for some random review that no one was actually doing. As soon as I got through to someone on the phone they fixed it in 5 minutes and I had weeks to certify THE NEXT DAY. The squeaky wheel gets the grease with EDD - you HAVE to call them!!

0 coins

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm afraid of! I've been calling the main number repeatedly but can't get through. I'll try the different EDD numbers and keep trying. I can't afford to wait 7 weeks!

Update on your situation: Since you can see your claim balance and benefit year end date, your claim is definitely in their system. The persistent "Reopen Claim" button is just a UI glitch that affects about 30% of reopened claims right now. Based on current processing times, you should see certification weeks appear between your 3-4 week mark. That means you might see them appear any day now. However, I still recommend speaking to a representative to potentially expedite this. When you call, use these exact words to the representative: "I reopened my claim 3 weeks ago, my benefit year is active until July 2025, but I haven't received any communication and no weeks to certify have appeared. Could you please check if there are any flags or stops on my claim that need to be removed?

Thank you so much for this script! I'll use these exact words when I call. This has been so stressful but everyone's help here has made me feel much better about the situation. I'll update here once I get through to someone or if my certification weeks suddenly appear!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my reopened claim about 2.5 weeks ago and it's like it vanished into thin air. No confirmation, no emails, that stupid reopen button is still there mocking me. Reading through all these responses is actually really helpful though - sounds like this is way more common than I thought. I'm definitely going to try calling tomorrow using that script CosmicCruiser provided. It's so frustrating that we have to become detectives just to figure out if our claims are even being processed. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - at least now I know I'm not alone in this mess!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one dealing with this! It's honestly maddening how broken their system is. I reopened mine about 3 weeks ago and had the exact same experience - no confirmation page, just dumped back to the homepage like nothing happened. The fact that we all have to become EDD system experts just to get our benefits is ridiculous. Definitely try that calling script, and if you have any luck getting through please update us! We're all in this together trying to navigate this mess of a system.

This thread has been incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with a similar situation - reopened my claim 2 weeks ago and it's like it disappeared into the EDD black hole. No confirmation, no emails, that annoying reopen button still sitting there. After reading everyone's experiences, I'm relieved to know this is a widespread issue and not just me doing something wrong. I can see my claim balance and benefit year end date too, so sounds like my claim is probably in their system somewhere. Going to try calling tomorrow using CosmicCruiser's script - fingers crossed I can actually get through to someone! It's crazy that we have to become EDD system experts just to get basic confirmation that our claims were received. Thanks to everyone sharing their stories, it really helps to know we're not alone in this frustrating process!

Welcome to the club nobody wants to be in! 😅 It's both reassuring and infuriating to see how many of us are dealing with this exact same issue. I've been following this thread closely since I'm in week 3 of the same nightmare - reopened claim, no confirmation, that taunting reopen button still there. The fact that so many people have had success after calling gives me hope though. I'm planning to camp out on the phone lines tomorrow too. Let's all keep each other updated on any progress! At this point I feel like we could write a manual on EDD's broken system quirks.

This whole thread is so validating - I'm dealing with the exact same situation! Reopened my claim 18 days ago and it's like it never happened. No confirmation page, no emails, no mail, and that stupid "Reopen Your Claim" button is still there taunting me every time I log in. I was starting to think I somehow messed up the submission, but seeing all your experiences makes me realize this is just EDD's broken system being broken as usual. I can see my claim balance and benefit year end date too, so I'm hoping that means it's actually in their system somewhere. Planning to use CosmicCruiser's calling script tomorrow - hopefully I can get through! It's honestly ridiculous that we have to become EDD system troubleshooters just to get basic confirmation that our claims exist. Thanks everyone for sharing - knowing I'm not alone in this mess definitely helps with the anxiety!

You're definitely not alone in this! I just went through the exact same thing last month - reopened my claim and it was like screaming into the void. That reopen button staying there is the worst because it makes you think nothing went through at all. Since you can see your claim balance and benefit year end date, that's actually a really good sign that your claim IS in their system. I ended up having to call multiple times before getting through, but when I finally did, the rep confirmed my claim had been processing the whole time - their system just doesn't update the interface properly. Keep trying with those phone calls, and don't click that reopen button again no matter how tempting it is! Hang in there, it will get sorted out.

This is such a helpful thread! I'm in week 2.5 of the same exact nightmare - reopened my claim and it's like it got sucked into a black hole. No confirmation page, no emails, nothing in the mail, and that cursed reopen button is still sitting there like nothing happened. I was honestly starting to panic thinking I did something wrong during the submission process, but reading all these experiences is so reassuring that it's just EDD's system being completely broken as usual. The fact that so many people are dealing with this identical issue shows how widespread their technical problems are. I can see my claim balance and benefit year end date too, which based on what CosmicCruiser explained sounds like a good sign my claim is actually in their system somewhere. Definitely going to try calling tomorrow using that script - fingers crossed I can actually get through to a human! It's absolutely insane that we have to become EDD system detectives just to figure out if our basic claim submissions even exist. Thanks to everyone for sharing your stories, it really helps knowing we're all navigating this mess together!
