EDD payment timing - will holiday delay my payment after certifying today?
Quick question about EDD payment timing bc I'm stressing about bills. I just certified for my UI benefits today (Sunday) and I'm wondering if I'll still get my payment deposited tomorrow? There's a holiday coming up and I'm worried it might delay things. I usually get paid on Monday after Sunday certification but not sure how holidays affect the processing time. Has anyone certified right before a holiday and can tell me what to expect? Really need this payment to hit my account ASAP!

In my experience, as long as you certified today (Sunday), EDD typically processes it overnight and you should see a payment status change to 'paid' by tomorrow morning. However, when it actually hits your account depends on your payment method. Direct deposit usually takes 24-48 hours after showing 'paid' status, while Money Network cards might be faster. The holiday might add an extra day to the bank processing time, but the EDD processing itself happens automatically regardless of holidays. Check your UI Online account tomorrow morning - if it says 'paid' you're in good shape!

•Thanks for this! I have the Money Network card so hopefully that means faster processing. Will definitely check the status tomorrow morning. Just freaking out cause my rent is due and my landlord isn't exactly the understanding type 😫

•Not always true! I got mine on time during President's Day. Think it depends on your bank and when exactly the holiday falls.

If you certified early today, there's a good chance it'll process tonight and show as 'paid' tomorrow. But the actual deposit timing depends on your payment method: - Direct deposit: Usually takes 1-2 business days AFTER it shows paid (so Monday or Tuesday, but the holiday might push to Wednesday) - Money Network card: Often faster, sometimes same day it shows paid Critical thing is checking your claim status tomorrow. If it shows 'pending' instead of 'paid' by tomorrow afternoon, that's when you might want to contact EDD. I've been dealing with the EDD system for about 2 years now and the payment patterns are pretty consistent unless there's an eligibility issue with your claim. My recommendation - wait until you see what happens with your status tomorrow before panicking. If it's still pending by Tuesday morning, that's when you should try reaching EDD.

•When my payment got stuck on pending last month, I could NOT get through on the phones. Called 57 times over 3 days! Kept getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message. Ended up using a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Worth it when you're desperate and need to talk to someone fast. My payment went from pending to paid the same day after the call.

Just to clarify some misconceptions: EDD processing and bank processing are two separate things. EDD's system runs 24/7/365 including holidays, so your certification will be processed overnight regardless of any holiday. Your payment will show as 'paid' in UI Online by tomorrow morning. However, the ACTUAL fund transfer depends on: 1. Your payment method (Money Network or direct deposit) 2. Banking holidays (which can add 1 business day) 3. Your bank's processing time For your Money Network card, transfers typically complete faster than direct deposit, sometimes within hours of showing 'paid' status. For direct deposit, it typically takes 1-2 business days AFTER it shows paid status in UI Online, and banking holidays can add an extra day to that timeline.

•Yes, there is a Money Network mobile app you can download. You can check your balance, transaction history, and even set up alerts for deposits. Much easier than calling the automated system every time. You just need to register your card on their website first before using the app.

•Great news! Money Network transfers are usually pretty quick after the status changes to paid. You should have it available today or early tomorrow at the latest. Glad it worked out!
