EDD payment stuck in pending after reporting bonus pay - holiday delay or issue?
I certified for benefits on Tuesday and reported a delayed bonus from my previous employer during my week 1 certification. It's now Friday and both weeks are still showing as 'pending' with $0.00 payment. My UI Online dashboard doesn't show any notifications or issues, just two weeks stuck in pending limbo. Is this because of the holiday delaying processing, or did reporting the bonus trigger some kind of review? I really need this money to cover my rent which is due next week. Has anyone experienced delays after reporting bonus income recently?

pending usually means theres a prob with ur claim. holidays only delay by 1 day max. did u call them yet?

•I tried calling this morning but got the 'we're experiencing high call volume' message and it hung up on me. Tried 3 times with the same result. Should I just keep trying or is there a better number to call?

The bonus pay is likely what's causing the hold-up. When you report any additional income, especially something like a bonus, it often triggers a manual review of your certification. This is completely normal, but unfortunately it means a delay in payment. The holiday might be adding an extra day to the processing time, but it's primarily the bonus that's causing your payments to pend. In my experience helping others with similar situations, these reviews typically take 5-10 business days to clear up. The EDD representative needs to verify the amount and date of the bonus to determine how it affects your weekly benefit amount.

•Thank you for the explanation! I didn't realize reporting a bonus would trigger a manual review. Do you know if both weeks will remain pending, or just the week where I reported the bonus? It seems unfair that week 2 would be held up when there was no bonus reported for that period.

This happened to me back in March. Reported a severance payment and BOTH weeks got stuck in pending for almost 3 weeks!!! EDD system is so frustrating. When one week gets flagged for review, they hold ALL payments until resolved. Completely ridiculous system.

•You're absolutely right that it's frustrating, but there's actually a reason they hold all payments. The system is designed this way because if there's a potential eligibility issue in one week, it could affect subsequent weeks as well. For example, if the bonus was actually ongoing income rather than a one-time payment, it would affect future eligibility. For the original poster: You need to speak with an EDD representative to move this forward. They can review your case and often release the pending payments while on the phone with you if everything is in order. The key is actually getting through to someone.

I went through something similar last month when I reported some freelance income. I tried calling EDD for days but couldn't get through the busy signals and automated system. Finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a rep within about 30 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The EDD rep was able to look at my claim, saw I had reported the income correctly, and pushed my payments through from pending to paid while I was on the call. Worth it to get this resolved quickly rather than waiting weeks for them to review it on their own timeline.

•Does this actually work? I've heard of these services but was always skeptical. Might try if it means not waiting 3 weeks again!

•Yeah, it worked for me. I was skeptical too, but I needed my money and was desperate after trying to call for 3 days straight. The rep I got was actually super helpful and fixed my issue in about 10 minutes once I explained what happened with the income reporting.

don't waste ur time calling the main EDD number its impossible to get thru. if u reported the bonus correctly u shouldn't have any issues once they review it. but u definitely need to talk to somone to speed things up otherwise it'll sit there forever!!!!!!

•Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm going to try calling one more time on Monday morning right when they open, and if that doesn't work, I might try that Claimyr service. I can't afford to wait weeks for this to clear up on its own.

When I had this exact situation happen to me, I spent hours trying to call EDD with no luck. I actually went to my local EDD office in person. Totally forgot that was even an option! I brought my ID and my award letter. Had to wait about 2 hours but the rep was able to release my payment that day. Not sure if all offices offer this service but might be worth checking if there's one near you.

Just to clarify some information here: When you report a bonus, the EDD needs to determine: 1) If the bonus was allocated to the week you reported it (correct) or if it should have been allocated to when it was earned (which could affect prior weeks) 2) Whether the bonus affects your eligibility for that week based on your weekly benefit amount and the partial benefit formula The holiday might add a small delay, but as others have mentioned, the main issue is the manual review triggered by reporting additional income. Speaking with a representative is definitely your best option to expedite this. When you do reach someone, ask them specifically to review the bonus income you reported and request that they release the pending payments if everything is in order. Be polite but persistent.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation. I'll make sure to ask specifically about reviewing the bonus income when I get through to someone. It's definitely a one-time payment that was delayed from my former employer, not ongoing income, so hopefully that makes it straightforward to resolve.

UPDATE: I managed to get through to EDD this morning! The representative confirmed that reporting the bonus triggered an automatic review. She verified the information and released both weeks of payments! They should be on my card within 24-48 hours. Thanks everyone for your help and advice!

•That's great news! I'm glad you were able to get it resolved quickly. For future reference, any time you report income other than your regular wages, it's likely to trigger a similar review. Just be prepared that you might need to contact EDD to push it through faster.
