EDD overpayment issue - need advice on talking to an agent about large amount owed
I owe a large amount to EDD and need to talk to someone about it. Any advice on how to handle this situation? I'm really stressed out and don't know where to start.

Been there, done that. Here's what you need to do: • Gather all your EDD documents, especially notices about the overpayment • Figure out why they say you owe money - do you agree? • Write down questions about repayment options and appeals • Be ready to explain your financial situation Stay calm during the call. Remember, the person on the other end is just doing their job. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: take notes during the call! You'll want to remember everything they tell you.

•Yep, and get the name of who you talk to. Makes follow-up way easier if you need it.

Ugh, the EDD is such a nightmare to deal with. I've been trying to get through for weeks!

•Tell me about it 🙄 I swear they make it hard on purpose

•Have you tried calling right when they open? Sometimes that works for me.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it does! I was skeptical too, but I was desperate. It saved me hours of hold time.

•$20 seems steep just to make a phone call...

•I get that, but consider how much your time is worth. For me, not spending hours on hold was worth it.

whatever you do, DON'T ignore this. I made that mistake and ended up owing way more bc of penalties 😭

Has anyone successfully appealed an overpayment? I'm thinking about trying but idk if it's worth the hassle

•I did! It took forever, but they reduced what I owed by like 60%. Def worth a shot imo

•Same here. Make sure you have all your docs in order tho. They're sticklers for paperwork.

pro tip: if you cant pay it all back at once, ask about a payment plan. they can usually work smthing out

•That's good to know, thanks! I'll definitely ask about that option.
