EDD benefit amounts wrong & delayed - need help calculating/projecting payments
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my benefits. They've been delayed and the amounts are all messed up. Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm thinking about calling to get it sorted out but not sure if that's the best way to go. Any advice on how to calculate what I should be getting or when I can expect payments?

Ugh, welcome to the club 🙄 I've been dealing with this nonsense for months now. It's like they're playing darts with our benefit amounts

•Months?! Jeez, I thought my 3 weeks was bad. How do you even survive that long?

•Lots of ramen and prayer lol. But for real, it's been a nightmare. I've had to borrow money from family just to keep the lights on.

•This is why the system is so messed up. People shouldn't have to struggle like this when they're already down on their luck. 😤

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

•Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but I tried it and got through in like an hour. Saved me days of frustration.

•20 bucks tho? That's steep when you're already hurting for cash.

•I get that, but for me it was worth it to finally get my issues resolved. Beats losing out on weeks of benefits.

Here's what I've learned about calculating benefits and payment timeframes: 1. Base Period: Your benefit amount is based on your highest-earning quarter in the base period (usually the first 4 of the last 5 completed calendar quarters). 2. Weekly Benefit Amount (WBA): Generally, it's about 50% of your average weekly wage, up to a maximum set by the state. 3. Payment Schedule: Most states pay bi-weekly, but some do weekly. 4. Delays: Common reasons for delays include identity verification, eligibility issues, or system backlogs. 5. Recalculations: If your amount seems off, double-check that all your wages were reported correctly. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more details on any of these points.

•Wow, thanks for breaking it down like that! Do you know how long the identity verification usually takes?

•It can vary wildly, unfortunately. I've seen people get verified in a few days, while others wait weeks. If it's been more than 10 business days, I'd definitely try to contact them.

Pro tip: keep a detailed log of all your interactions with the unemployment office. Times, dates, names of reps you spoke to, confirmation numbers, everything. It's saved my butt more than once when things got messy.

idk if this helps but I noticed my payments started coming through faster after I switched to direct deposit instead of the debit card they issued. might be worth a shot

•Really? I might try that. The debit card is such a pain anyway.

Anybody else feel like we need to start a support group for dealing with unemployment stress? This whole process is taking years off my life I swear

Hey OP, have you checked if there's been any recent system updates or policy changes? Sometimes they roll out new stuff without really announcing it and it messes everything up for a while.
