EDD UI Online glitch - stuck on military questions despite answering 'no'

I'm trying to file a new claim on UI Online and hit a really annoying technical glitch. When I answered 'No' to the military service question, the system is STILL forcing me to fill out all the military service details (branch, dates, etc.) that shouldn't even appear! I've tried refreshing the page, logging out and back in, even tried answering 'Yes' then back to 'No' hoping it would reset, but nothing works. The application won't let me proceed without filling in this irrelevant information, and obviously I can't provide details for military service I never had. Has anyone else run into this UI Online bug? Any solutions? I'm getting really frustrated because I can't submit my claim and I'm already 2 weeks without income.

I had the exact same issue last month! It's definitely a glitch in their system. What worked for me was clearing my browser cache completely, then using a different browser altogether (switched from Chrome to Firefox). For some reason that reset whatever was causing the loop. Also try doing the application during non-peak hours - I finished mine successfully at around 6am when the system wasn't overloaded.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll try clearing cache and switching browsers tonight. Did you have to start the whole application over again or were you able to pick up where you left off?

omg the edd website has so many glitches its ridiculous!!! happened to me 2 but with disability questions. kept saying i had to answer stuff that didnt apply to me. tried like 5 times before it worked

Did anything specific finally make it work on that 5th try? Or was it just random luck?

This is a known issue with UI Online that the EDD hasn't fully fixed yet. There are three workarounds that sometimes help: 1. Try using the mobile version of the site instead of desktop 2. If you have any browser extensions or ad blockers, disable them all before trying again 3. Try accessing the site during off-peak hours (before 8am or after 8pm) If none of these work, you may need to call EDD directly to complete your application. You'll want to speak with a tier 2 specialist who can override the system and manually process your application.

I'll definitely try all three workarounds tonight. Really hoping one works because calling EDD sounds like a nightmare from what I've read. Thank you for the detailed advice!

I've been dealing with EDD for years (unfortunatley) and their website is TERRIBLE. It's like they designed it to be as frustrating as possible!! The military questions bug has been there since at least 2022 from my experience. One thing that worked for me was entering "N/A" in all the required military fields, then adding a note in the comments section at the end explaining it was a glitch and I have no military history. My claim still processed correctly.

That's actually really smart! I didn't think about just putting N/A in the fields. I'll try that approach if changing browsers doesn't work. Thanks for the creative solution!

If you've tried all the technical fixes and still can't get past this issue, you might want to check out Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have a service that helps you get through to an actual EDD agent who can bypass these system glitches and process your application correctly. I was stuck in a similar loop with disability questions and wasted days trying to fix it myself before using their service. They have a video demo that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Saved me so much frustration!

@casual_commenter Yes, it definitely worked for me! I was calling for days and getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message over and over. With Claimyr I got connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. The specialist was able to override the system and complete my application over the phone.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm going to try the browser fixes tonight, but if those don't work, I might need to try that service. At this point I just need to get my claim filed before I miss another certification period.

Am I the only one who thinks it's RIDICULOUS that we even need third-party services just to reach a government agency that WE PAY FOR with our taxes?!! The whole system is broken by design. I've had nothing but problems with EDD since day one. Their website has more bugs than a roach motel. Sorry for the rant but this kind of stuff makes my blood boil.

You're definitely not alone in feeling that way. The system is seriously outdated and underfunded. They're apparently working on a complete overhaul of the UI Online system, but it won't be ready until late 2025 at the earliest.

UPDATE: Solution found! I tried the browser switching trick and it didn't work, BUT entering "N/A" in all the military fields as someone suggested above DID work! I was able to complete my application and got confirmation that it was submitted successfully. Thanks everyone for your help! To anyone else having this issue, try the N/A trick!

Awesome! Glad that worked for you! Make sure you certify on time every two weeks - that's another area where the system loves to glitch out. I set multiple reminders because missing certification can cause all kinds of headaches.
