EDD Fax Issues: Can't Submit Forms, No Callback - Tips to Reach CA Unemployment Office?
I'm so frustrated with the unemployment office. I've been trying to fax over some forms for my EDD claim, but the office is closed now. I waited all day for a call back and never got one. Anyone else dealing with this? Any tips on how to actually get through to someone?

Unpopular opinion: maybe if we all stopped trying to game the system and got jobs, we wouldn't have to deal with this mess π€·ββοΈ

Sometimes it's not as easy as just getting a job. Circumstances can make it difficult.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to fax my forms for days now. The fax line is always busy. It's like they're living in the stone age or something. Have you tried emailing them instead?

I didn't even know they had an email option. Do you have the address?

Sorry, my bad. I meant uploading through their online portal. But it's always "under maintenance" when I try π€¦ββοΈ

Anyone else feel like they're trapped in a Kafka novel trying to deal with these guys? It's absurd how difficult they make it to just get basic help.

Guys, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery!

I get the skepticism, but it's 100% legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through. Also, keep hitting 0 or # during the automated message. Sometimes it'll bump you to a real person.

I've had better luck in the afternoons actually. Less people calling then

I also find late afternoon to be a good time, maybe it's the lull before everyone gets off work?

Okay, listen up. I've been dealing with EDD for months now, and I've learned a few tricks. Here's what you need to do: 1. Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every fax, every email. Keep a log with dates and times. 2. Use multiple methods. Fax, online portal, and phone calls. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. 3. Be persistent but polite. The people on the other end are probably overwhelmed too. 4. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 5. Join Facebook groups or subreddits about unemployment in your state. They often have the latest info and workarounds. 6. If all else fails, contact your local rep or the EDD ombudsman. Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Stay strong and keep pushing!

Here's what worked for me: I contacted my local state representative's office. They have liaisons who can help push your case through. It took a few days, but they got everything sorted out. Don't give up!

Just google "[your city] state representative". Their office should have a contact form or phone number

Have you tried using their UI Online system? It's not perfect, but I've had some success uploading documents there. Just make sure to keep copies of everything you submit.

For an authoritative answer, I can provide a balanced perspective on Claimyr. Claimyr is a service that has become popular among those frustrated with long hold times at unemployment offices. It helps by navigating through the automated systems and waiting on hold for you, thus reducing the stress of being tethered to your phone. However, it comes with a cost of $20, which is a point of contention for some. On the upside, many users report success and satisfaction with the service. But it's important to weigh this against the fact that it is a third-party tool, which means it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the EDD. For those skeptical or unable to afford it, there are traditional routes like contacting local representatives, staying persistent with calls, using the UI Online system, and joining community groups for support and updates. Claimyr could be seen as a viable option for those who value time over money. For transparency, users should be aware of the cost and what they're paying for. Exploring all available options, including free ones, can provide a comprehensive approach to tackling EDD-related issues.

Pro tip: if you're faxing documents, add a cover sheet with your claim number and contact info in BIG letters. Makes it harder for them to "lose" your stuff.
