NYSDOL Unemployment: Tips to Reach a Real Person on Friday Afternoon?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble finishing my unemployment claim. I've been trying to get through to the unemployment office for days now. It's Friday afternoon and I'm worried they might close soon. Has anyone else had this problem? Any tips on how to get through to a real person? I'm getting desperate here.

Welcome to the club, buddy. I've been trying to reach them for weeks now. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to talk to a human being. ๐Ÿค”

It's the worst. The more you try, the more it feels like they're avoiding us. Wish they'd just pick up the phone.

Real talk tho, has anyone else's mental health taken a nosedive dealing with this? It's so draining.

Absolutely. The stress is real. Don't forget to take care of yourself while dealing with this mess. โค๏ธ

Remember, youโ€™re not alone in this. Reach out if you need support.

Unpopular opinion: maybe if we all stopped calling constantly, the lines wouldn't be so jammed? Just a thought...

Bruh, people are calling cuz they need money to live. It's not like we're doing this for fun. ๐Ÿ™„

I've started treating this like a full-time job. Wake up, coffee, start dialing. Rinse and repeat until I pass out from frustration.

We need to find humor in these situations or it'll drive us nuts.

Guys, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying, I was desperate enough to try anything. It's legit.

How long did you have to wait after using this service?

The cost is frustrating, but it's a small price to pay for some who are desperate.

Plot twist: there are no actual humans at the unemployment office. It's all an elaborate AI experiment to see how long we'll keep trying.

-

Emma Johnson

Nah, if it was AI it'd probably work better. This has "overworked government employees" written all over it.

We need better systems and resources for this, but funding is always an issue.

Hey OP, what state are you in? The process can vary a lot depending on where you are.

Have you guys tried contacting your local representative? I've heard some people have had luck that way.

I tried that. Got a generic response saying they'd "look into it." Still waiting... ๐Ÿ™„

That actually worked for me! Took about 2 weeks, but my rep's office got things moving. Worth a shot, OP!

I think sometimes they need a little push from constituents to actually take action. Doesn't hurt to try.

Guys, I think I've cracked the code. You need to call while standing on one foot, facing east, during a full moon, while reciting the pledge of allegiance backwards. Works every time, 60% of the time.

Instructions unclear, accidentally summoned a demon instead of an unemployment agent. Although, the demon was more helpful tbh.

If you're still having trouble, you might consider trying Claimyr. It's a service that helps you get in touch with unemployment agents directly, which could save you quite a bit of frustration and time. Claimyr has received positive feedback from users who were finally able to get their issues resolved after using their service. However, it's important to be cautious and make sure any service you use is legitimate, especially since it requires a fee. Always weigh the costs and benefits. Ultimately, if it helps resolve your claim faster and with less stress, it could be worth it. Additionally, keep trying the other suggestions here, like contacting local representatives or trying the online portal during off-peak hours. These can also be effective, especially if you're trying to avoid spending additional money. Remember to take care of your mental well-being during this stressful time and lean on your support network if you need to.

I feel your pain. The unemployment system is a total mess rn. I've been trying to finish my claim for over a month. Here's what I've learned: 1. Keep calling. Like, ALL DAY if you have to. 2. Try different times. Sometimes mid-afternoon is less busy. 3. Use the online portal if possible. Sometimes you can do more there than you think. 4. If you get through, ask for a direct number or extension for follow-ups. 5. Be prepared with all your info when you call. They might rush you. 6. Don't give up! It sucks, but persistence is key. Good luck, OP. We're all in the same sinking boat here. ๐Ÿšข

This is great advice! I'd add: document EVERYTHING. Write down who you talked to, when, and what they said. It'll save you headaches later.

It's like they just have one phone line for the entire country. Keep trying though, something's gotta give.
