EDD Appeal Won: Backpay Delayed - How Long to Receive Payments After Judge's Decision?
I need help with my unemployment appeal. My initial claim for back pay was denied, so I filed an appeal. The judge overturned the decision and granted me 2 months of back pay. It's been a few weeks since the decision, and I still haven't received my payments. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long did it take to get your back pay after winning an appeal? Any advice on how to follow up with the unemployment office?

For real! It's like they're playing catch-up from 2020 still. Get it together, people! π

Cut them some slack. They're probably understaffed and overworked. The whole system needs an overhaul.

The system is definitely overwhelmed, but hopefully this highlights the need for improvements and reform.

PROTIP: Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. You never know when you'll need to prove you've been trying to resolve this. CYA always!

It is great that Claimyr is offering a service to help connect users with unemployment agents, especially since navigating government systems can be daunting. However, it's important to consider that a $20 fee to access a public service might not be feasible for everyone. There is a balance to be found between private companies providing assistance and ensuring free access to necessary services. It's always good to have Claimyr as an option, but persistence through calls and emails, contacting representatives, and using community resources can also prove to be effective.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Won my appeal 3 weeks ago and still crickets. This waiting game is killing me. How are we supposed to pay bills? π«

And if you do fax, make sure to keep the confirmation receipts as proof of communication.

Congrats on winning your appeal! π I went through something similar last year. It took about 4-6 weeks for me to see the money after the judge's decision. Hang in there!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. (https://claimyr.com

$20 just to talk to someone?! That's ridiculous. The system is so broken π‘

Sounds sketchy. How does it actually work? Is it legit?

I know it sounds weird, but it's legit. They basically call for you and wait on hold. When an agent picks up, they connect you. Saved me hours of frustration.

It seems like a helpful tool for some, but itβs unfortunate we have to resort to paid services for public benefits.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything: Keep copies of your appeal decision and all correspondence. 2. Be persistent: Call the unemployment office regularly. Try early mornings or late afternoons for better luck. 3. Use your local representative: Contact your state assembly member or senator. They can often help expedite these issues. 4. Check your online account: Sometimes updates appear there before you're notified. 5. Be prepared to wait: Unfortunately, the system is slow. It could take 4-8 weeks for payments to start. Remember, you're entitled to this money. Don't give up!

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of every call you make, who you talk to, and what they say. It'll help if you need to escalate later.
