EDD unemployment appeal delay: No payment after filing wage and benefit amount appeal - What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment appeal. I filed an appeal about my wages and benefit amount, but it's been way past the appeal timeframe and I still haven't received any payment. I'm starting to worry that something's gone wrong with my file. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of delay? Any advice on what I should do next?

Easier said than done in this economy. Some of us don't have a choice but to fight for our benefits.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The appeals process is a nightmare. I waited 3 months for mine to go through. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

Anyone else feel like they're playing a game of telephone with EDD? 📞🙉🙈🙊

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, seriously? $20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

Sounds sketchy. How do you know it's legit?

I get the skepticism, but I was desperate and it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Just sharing what helped me out.

How long did you have to wait once they started calling?

I understand why people might be skeptical about Claimyr, but it can be a helpful option for those who can afford it and who are feeling stuck and frustrated.

Have you tried sending a carrier pigeon with your appeal? Might be faster than waiting for EDD to process it 🕊️😂

LMAO 🤣 Maybe we should start a pigeon express for EDD

Plot twist: what if all the EDD workers are actually robots and that's why nothing ever gets done? 🤖

I've been dealing with this for MONTHS. It's like they want us to give up. Don't let them win! Keep calling and emailing until someone helps you.

Guys, I think we're missing the bigger picture here. The whole system needs an overhaul. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to get what we're entitled to. Anyone know if there's any movement to reform this mess?

There's actually a petition going around. I'll try to find the link and post it here later.

Have you tried reaching out on Twitter? Sometimes public shaming works wonders 😈

Careful with that. You don't want to say anything that could jeopardize your case.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there without notifying you. Worth a shot!

They didn't include some of my 1099 work. Make sure all your income is accounted for!

If we're considering the broader picture, reform in how unemployment appeals and claims are processed would be beneficial. But until then, persistence and using the available resources like Claimyr or contacting representatives might help.

While Claimyr seems like a viable solution for some, it's not ideal for everyone due to the cost. Always weigh the benefits versus the costs in your situation.

Has anyone tried going to their local EDD office in person? Wondering if that might help speed things up

I tried that last month. They just told me to go home and check online 🙄

I heard they're super backed up because of all the fraud cases. Might explain the delay, but doesn't make it any less frustrating.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact EDD. 2. Contact your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can help push your case through. 3. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 4. If possible, fax your appeal documents again. Sometimes they 'lose' paperwork. 5. Join Facebook groups for unemployment support. There's often good advice and updates there. 6. Consider reaching out to local legal aid. They might be able to help for free. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up!

Excellent advice, especially about documenting everything and contacting a state representative. Sometimes having an official advocate can really make a difference.
