EDD Payment Delay After Submitting All Paperwork - What to Do?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I turned in all my paperwork for my unemployment claim but I still haven't received my payment. It's been a while and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it take for you to get your payment after submitting everything? Any advice on what I should do next would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel ya. I was in the same boat a few months ago. It took about 6 weeks for me to get my first payment after submitting everything. The waiting game is brutal, but hang in there!

6 weeks?! 😱 That's so long... I hope mine doesn't take that long. Did you do anything special to speed things up?

Nah, unfortunately I just had to wait it out. But I did call them like every other day lol. Not sure if that helped or just annoyed them 😅

Have you tried calling the EDD? Sometimes there's a hold on your account that you don't know about, and a quick call can clear it up.

I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through! The lines are always busy 😫

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. $20 just to make a phone call? Seems like a scam to me.

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate and decided to give it a shot. Saved me hours of frustration. But yeah, it sucks that we have to pay extra just to get basic service 🙄

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research about EDD payments: 1. Processing times can vary wildly, from 2-8 weeks typically. 2. Make sure all your info is correct. Even small errors can cause delays. 3. If you haven't heard anything after 3 weeks, definitely try to contact them. 4. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 5. If you have access, check your claim status online regularly. 6. Be prepared to verify your identity. They might ask for additional documents. 7. If you're really stuck, consider contacting your local state representative. They can sometimes help expedite things. Hope this helps! Hang in there, the system is frustrating but it (usually) works out in the end.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is super helpful. I'll definitely double-check all my info and keep an eye on my spam folder.

Great advice! I'd add: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. It might come in handy if there's a dispute later.

am i the only 1 who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get the money we're entitled to? 🤬 the system is broken af

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from claiming.

It's frustrating for sure, but remember there's also a lot of fraud they're trying to prevent. It's a tough balance.

Have you checked your claim status online? Sometimes it updates there before you actually receive the payment.

sending good vibes your way, OP! 💕 This process is stressful but you'll get through it. Don't forget to take care of yourself while you wait!
