EDD Payment Delays: Haven't Received Any Money Yet. What to Do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment payments. I haven't received any money yet and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced delays in getting their payments? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel you. I was in the same boat a few weeks ago. Have you checked your claim status online? Sometimes there's a hold-up that you can see there.

Thanks for the tip! I did check online, but it just says 'pending' with no other info. So frustrating 😤

Pending could mean anything tbh. The system is such a mess rn 🙄

True that. Maybe try calling them? I know its a pain, but sometimes thats the only way to get answers

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me weeks of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did you have to wait once it connected you?

It took about 2 hours total, but I didn't have to sit by the phone. They called me when an agent was on the line.

Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

Make sure all your certifications are up to date. I missed one week and it held up my whole claim for a month 😫

Good point, I'll double-check that. Thanks!

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for months: 1. Keep calling, even if it's frustrating. Early morning or late afternoon seem to be better times. 2. Document everything. Write down who you talked to and what they said. 3. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 4. Make sure your address is up to date in the system. 5. If you can't get through, try contacting them through social media. Sometimes they respond there. 6. As a last resort, contact your state representative or senator. They can often help. Hang in there, OP. The system is a mess, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

Kafka? More like a horror story written by a committee of sadistic bureaucrats 😂

Pro tip: if you're having trouble getting through on the phone, try calling right when they open. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold that way.

Oh man, I didn't even think about that. How did you find out it was an ID issue?

I finally got through to someone on the phone and they told me. Had to upload some extra docs to prove my identity
