EDD payment delays - anyone else not received their unemployment benefits yet?
Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated right now. My unemployment benefits haven't been paid yet and I'm starting to worry. Has anyone else experienced delays with their payments recently? I'm not sure what to do and could really use some advice or info if anyone's been through this before.

Ugh, I feel you. I've been waiting on my payments for weeks now. It's so stressful not knowing when the money will come through. Have you tried calling the unemployment office? It's a nightmare to get through, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

Calling is useless. I spent 3 days trying to get through and when I finally did, they put me on hold for 2 hours then hung up on me. 🤬

Yeah, I've tried calling a few times but no luck getting through. Guess I'll keep trying tho. Thanks for the suggestion!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

I get it, $20 isn't cheap when you're waiting on benefits. But for me, it was worth it to finally get answers. And yeah, it really works - saved me days of frustration.

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

Sure! You pick the department you need to call, pay the fee, and their system starts calling right away. It navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person answers, it calls your phone. No guarantee, but it worked for me on the first try.

Have you checked your claim status online? Sometimes there's info there about why payments are delayed. Could be something simple like needing to certify or upload a document.

Thanks for the tip! I'll def check that out. How long did it take to resolve once you verified your identity?

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this for way too long: 1. Always certify on time, even if you're not getting paid. It keeps your claim active. 2. Check your inbox on the unemployment portal regularly. They sometimes send important notices there. 3. If you can, set up direct deposit. It's faster than waiting for a debit card. 4. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact them. It might help if you need to appeal. 5. Join Facebook groups for unemployment in your state. Sometimes you can get insider tips. 6. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes push things through. Hang in there, OP. I know it's tough, but keep pushing!

Great advice! I'd add: make sure your contact info is up to date on your account. I missed important updates cuz they had my old address.

Preach! 🙌 It's a total clown show. We pay into this system our whole working lives and when we need it, it's broken af

Conspiracy theory: they make it hard on purpose so people just give up and go back to work for peanuts 🥜

Pro tip: if you're really desperate, reach out to local charities or churches. Some offer emergency assistance while you're waiting on benefits. It's not ideal, but it can help in a pinch.
