Certified for EDD benefits yesterday but no payment showing in portal - wait or call?

I completed my bi-weekly certification yesterday morning around 9am and usually see some movement by now (either pending or paid status). My portal still shows absolutely nothing for this certification period - like I never even did it! The confirmation number is in my text messages though, so I know it went through. My previous payments have always shown up within 12 hours of certifying. Should I panic and start the EDD phone nightmare tomorrow morning, or is this normal sometimes? Do weekend certifications take longer to process? My rent is due Friday and I'm starting to stress out!

Thanks! That's a relief to hear. Did yours eventually show as pending first or did it just go straight to paid when it finally appeared?

This has been happening a lot lately. The EDD system is experiencing delays with weekend certifications. I certified Sunday morning and mine didn't appear until Tuesday afternoon last week. If you received a confirmation number, your certification went through - the system is just backed up. I'd give it until Wednesday before calling. If you need to reach them, I had great luck with Claimyr (claimyr.com) after wasting hours trying to get through myself. They got me connected to an EDD rep in under 20 minutes when I had a similar issue with a delayed payment. They have a demo video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

This happens when the EDD system is running their quarterly maintenance updates. The certification system and payment processing system temporarily desynchronize. Since you have your confirmation number, you're fine - the certification is in their system. Here's what happens next: 1) Within 48-72 hours, your UI Online account will update showing the certification 2) It typically goes straight to "paid" status rather than pending in these situations 3) Payment to your Money Network card or direct deposit usually happens 24 hours after that If you don't see ANY update by Thursday morning, then it's time to call. But 99% of the time these delayed weekend certifications resolve themselves by midweek.

This is SO helpful! I had no idea about the quarterly maintenance thing. I'll check again tomorrow and Thursday morning. Really appreciate the detailed explanation!

DONT WAIT!!!! Call them ASAP!!! My certification disappeared for 3 weeks and I waited too long thinking it would just "show up" and ended up with a huge mess and penalty weeks!!! The system is broken and they won't fix it unless you get a human on the phone who can see what's happening!!!

This is a completely different situation than what the OP is describing. Certifications that go missing for 3 weeks usually indicate an eligibility issue that triggered a review. When you have a confirmation number and it's only been 24 hours, it's almost always just a processing delay.

What day of the week do you normally certify? I've found that certifying on Sundays often creates delays in processing compared to certifying on the assigned certification day. Also, have you checked if there are any outstanding questionnaires or forms you need to complete in your UI Online inbox? Sometimes those can hold up payment without any obvious notification.

I usually certify on Sundays too, but I've never had this happen before. And I've checked my inbox multiple times - nothing there requiring action. Weird that it just started happening now after months of smooth certifications.

thx for inside info! EDD never tells us anything

UPDATE for anyone finding this post later: The most likely explanation is the Monday holiday (Memorial Day) causing processing delays. EDD typically takes 48-72 hours after holidays to catch up on certifications. Since you certified on Sunday before a holiday, expect things to take 1-2 days longer than usual. Still recommend waiting until Thursday before calling.

You were right! It just showed up as PAID this morning. Thanks everyone for helping me not panic!
