Will certifying Sunday instead of Saturday delay my EDD payment deposit?

I totally messed up and forgot to certify for my biweekly benefits yesterday (Saturday) like I usually do. Just completed my certification this morning instead. Anyone know if this is going to push back when my payment hits my account? I'm really tight on cash right now and was counting on getting that deposit on Monday or Tuesday like normal. Should I be worried or does EDD process Sunday certifications the same way? Never been late before so I'm kinda stressing about it.

You're fine! EDD considers the entire weekend as the certification period. Many people certify on Sunday and get their payments on the normal schedule. The system processes weekend certifications in batches, so there's no difference between Saturday and Sunday. You should still see your deposit in the usual timeframe (Monday/Tuesday if you have direct deposit, a bit longer for Money Network card).

Omg thank you SO MUCH! That's a huge relief. I was seriously panicking thinking I'd have to wait an extra week or something. Will update when the money hits my account.

Same! I actually prefer Sunday night certification - less system lag and I feel like my payments process faster. I swear when I tried Saturday morning once it took LONGER to hit my account. EDD systems are weird like that sometimes.

The REAL question is did you report all your work and earnings correctly? That's what will delay your payment, not which day of the weekend you certified. They'll flag your account if the numbers don't match what employers report!!!

Yes, I reported everything correctly. I didn't work during this certification period so it was pretty straightforward. Just worried about the timing since I have bills coming up.

This is unnecessarily alarmist. The OP was asking specifically about certification timing, not reporting issues. Let's try to address the actual question being asked instead of causing more anxiety.

Day doesnt matter but TIME might. If u certified after the cutoff (usually around 10PM I think???) it could push it to the next processing day. But probably not a big deal either way, maybe 24hr delay max.

Actually, there's no official "cutoff time" for weekend certification. The system processes all weekend certifications together, regardless of the exact time. The only important thing is completing certification by Sunday night before the end of the certification period.

Anyone else notice that the UI Online system has been SUPER slow lately? Takes forever to load pages. I tried certifying yesterday and kept getting timeout errors. Finally got through this morning. EDD really needs to upgrade their systems...but to answer your question, I've certified on both days and payment timing was identical.

PREACH! Their systems are garbage. I had to call them 37 TIMES last month when my account got locked for no reason after certification. Wasted my entire day trying to get through.

To add some official clarification: EDD's certification period runs from 12:01 AM Saturday through 11:59 PM Sunday of your designated certification week. Any certification completed during this window is considered timely and processed in the same batch. The system runs payment processing overnight Sunday, so certifying Sunday morning vs. Saturday afternoon makes no difference in payment timing. What WILL affect your payment schedule is: 1. Reporting earnings (adds review time) 2. Having a pending eligibility interview 3. Being on conditional payment status 4. Having an identity verification hold Since you've been certifying regularly without issues, you should see your payment as usual.

This is so helpful, thank you! I don't have any of those issues (no earnings to report, no pending interviews), so hopefully it'll process normally. Really appreciate the detailed explanation!

Yes! Payment hit my account this morning, right on schedule. No delay at all from certifying on Sunday instead of Saturday. Thanks everyone for the reassurance!

Good to know this worked out! I'm new to the EDD system and was wondering about this exact scenario. It's reassuring to see that weekend certification timing really doesn't matter. I've been stressing about making sure I certify exactly on Saturday, but sounds like I have the whole weekend window. Thanks for sharing the update that your payment came through normally - that's super helpful for those of us still figuring out how all this works!

Welcome to the community! Yeah, the weekend window thing is definitely one of those things that causes unnecessary stress when you're new to the system. I was the same way when I first started - thought I had to certify at exactly the right time or everything would be messed up. But like everyone said, EDD processes the whole weekend as one batch. The flexibility is actually pretty nice once you get used to it. Hope your experience with the system goes smoothly!

This thread is exactly what I needed to see! I'm also pretty new to EDD and have been setting alarms to make sure I certify on Saturday morning thinking it would somehow make my payments faster. It's such a relief to know I have the whole weekend and that the timing doesn't actually affect when payments process. The official clarification from Jasmine really helped explain how the system actually works vs what I was imagining in my head. Thanks for asking this question and following up with your results - really helpful for newcomers like me!

Same here! I literally just started receiving benefits last month and I've been so paranoid about doing everything "perfectly" that I was waking up early on Saturdays to certify first thing. It's such a weight off my shoulders to learn that the whole weekend counts as the same processing period. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences - makes the whole process feel way less intimidating when you're just starting out!

Just want to echo what everyone else has said - you're totally fine! I've been on EDD for about 8 months now and I've certified on every day of the weekend at this point (Saturday morning, Saturday night, Sunday afternoon, you name it). Never once has it affected my payment timing. The system really does treat the whole weekend as one certification window. I think a lot of us stress about the "perfect" timing when we first start, but EDD's payment processing is actually pretty predictable once you get the hang of it. Glad to see your payment came through on schedule - that's exactly what should happen!

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really comforting to hear from someone who's been through this longer and tried certifying on different days. I think you're right that we newcomers tend to overthink the timing aspect - I was definitely guilty of that! It's reassuring to know that EDD's payment processing is more predictable than it initially seems. These kinds of real-world experiences from the community are so much more helpful than trying to decode the official EDD website. Really appreciate everyone taking the time to share their knowledge with those of us still learning the ropes!

This is such a helpful thread! I'm fairly new to the EDD system (about 3 months in) and I've definitely been one of those people stressing about certification timing. I actually had a similar situation last week where I completely forgot to certify on Saturday and panicked when I remembered on Sunday evening. Like you, I was worried it would mess up my payment schedule since I have automatic bills that come out early in the week. Reading through everyone's experiences here really puts my mind at ease - it's clear that EDD gives us that full weekend window for a reason. The official breakdown from Jasmine about the 12:01 AM Saturday through 11:59 PM Sunday timeframe is super useful info that I hadn't seen spelled out anywhere else. Thanks for asking this question and following up with your results - it's exactly the kind of real-world confirmation that helps those of us still getting familiar with how everything works!

I totally get that panic feeling! I'm also pretty new to this (just started my claim about 6 weeks ago) and I've had that same "oh no, did I mess everything up?" moment when I realized I forgot to certify on Saturday. It's so reassuring to see from everyone's responses that EDD actually built in flexibility with the weekend window - makes me wonder why they don't explain that better on their website! I've been setting multiple phone reminders because I was so worried about missing the "right" day, but sounds like I can relax a bit. Really appreciate you sharing your experience and everyone else chiming in with theirs - this community has been a lifesaver for navigating all the EDD quirks that aren't obvious when you're starting out!

This whole thread has been so reassuring to read! I'm about 2 months into my EDD claim and I've been religiously certifying every Saturday morning at like 8 AM because I was convinced that earlier = faster payment processing. Reading everyone's experiences here makes me realize I've been creating unnecessary stress for myself. The fact that Leo got his payment right on schedule after certifying Sunday morning is exactly the proof I needed that the timing really doesn't matter within that weekend window. It's honestly a relief to know I can be more flexible - sometimes Saturday mornings are hectic with family stuff and it would be nice to not have that pressure. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences, especially the newcomers who admitted to the same overthinking I've been doing!

I'm so glad this thread exists too! I just started my EDD claim a few weeks ago and have been doing the exact same thing - setting early Saturday alarms because I thought it would somehow speed up my payments. It's such a relief to know that all this stress about perfect timing has been unnecessary! Reading Leo's success story and everyone else's experiences really shows that EDD's weekend processing window is much more forgiving than us newcomers initially think. I'm definitely going to stop putting so much pressure on myself about the exact day and time now. This community has been incredibly helpful for learning the real-world ins and outs of the system that you just can't find in the official documentation!

This is such a valuable thread for new EDD users! I just filed my claim about a month ago and have been super anxious about certification timing. I actually bookmarked this discussion because seeing Leo's real experience - forgetting to certify on Saturday, doing it Sunday morning, and still getting paid on schedule - is exactly the kind of reassurance I needed. The community knowledge here is incredible. I've been treating Saturday certification like a life-or-death deadline, but clearly EDD designed the system with more flexibility than I realized. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences and helping newcomers like me understand how things actually work versus how we imagine they work!
