CUIAB Appeals portal login error persists despite password resets - need urgent help!

I've been trying to check my EDD appeal status through the CUIAB website (cuiab.ca.gov) since last night and I'm hitting a brick wall. Created an account and every time I try to log in, I keep getting error messages. I've reset my password TWICE already and still can't get in! Has anyone else had this problem with the appeals portal? The hearing date is coming up in 10 days and I'm freaking out because I need to upload some documents before my hearing. Called the office this morning but was on hold for 45 minutes before I had to hang up for work. Any suggestions on how to get this fixed ASAP? Should I just drive to the CUIAB office in person?

The CUIAB portal has been having technical issues since their system update last month. Try these steps that worked for me: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies completely 2. Use Chrome or Edge instead of Safari or Firefox 3. Try logging in during off-hours (early morning or late evening) 4. Make sure your username is exactly as shown in your registration email (it's case sensitive) If none of that works, you can fax your documents to the CUIAB office handling your case. The fax number should be on your hearing notice. Include your case number and full name on every page.

Thank you!! I'll try all of these tonight. I didn't know about the system update - that explains a lot. Do you know if they'll accept emailed documents if I can't get the portal working? The hearing notice just says to upload through the portal...

That's good to know it worked to go in person. Which office did you visit? Did you need an appointment or could you just walk in?

I had this EXACT problem last month!! So frustrating! The CUIAB site is terrible compared to the main EDD portal. What fixed it for me was using Internet Explorer (yes, the old browser) because apparently their site isn't fully compatible with modern browsers. Also, make sure you're not copying/pasting your password - type it manually. For some reason the site adds invisible spaces when you paste text.

Internet Explorer has been discontinued. Microsoft Edge has an IE compatibility mode that might work though - click the three dots in the top right corner, then go to Settings > Default browser > Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode.

Here's what nobody tells you about the CUIAB appeals portal - there's a technical glitch where if your username contains certain special characters (like .-_) or if you're using autofill, it often fails. Try creating a new account with a very simple username - letters and numbers only. No special characters. If you're still struggling to upload documents for your hearing, another option is to contact them by phone using Claimyr.com - it's a service I used that got me connected to an actual person at EDD who then connected me to CUIAB. Saved me hours of hold time. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km They can note in your file that you're having technical issues and give you alternatives for document submission.

I didn't know special characters would cause issues! My username does have underscores in it. I'll try creating a new account tonight. And thanks for the Claimyr tip - I'll check that out if I still can't get through. At this point I'll try anything to make sure my documents get in before the deadline!

anybody else think its RIDICULOUS that we have 2 different websites for edd stuff?? ui online for claims and then this cuiab thing for appeals?? why cant they just have ONE SYSTEM that works???? my appeal has been pending for 4 months now.....

OMG YES!!! And don't forget the separate ID.me verification system too! It's like they intentionally make it complicated. Sorry about your 4-month wait... that's insane. Mine took 3 months just to get scheduled.

The CUIAB portal errors are often related to browser compatibility issues. Here's what I recommend based on helping several clients with appeal submissions: 1. Try a different browser completely 2. Disable any ad blockers or security extensions 3. If you're on WiFi, try using a mobile data connection instead 4. Check if your password contains special characters - their system sometimes rejects certain symbols As a last resort, you can email your documents to CUIAB.Documents@cuiab.ca.gov with your name and case number in the subject line. While this is not the preferred method, they are required to accept emailed documents when technical issues prevent portal access. I would recommend following up with a phone call to confirm receipt if you use this method.

Thank you for the email address! That's really helpful to have as a backup. I'll try the technical fixes first, but knowing there's an email option takes some pressure off.

I work in IT and had to help my brother with this exact issue. The CUIAB site has SSL certificate issues with some browsers. Try using your phone instead of computer. For some reason the mobile version works better. Also check your account activation email - sometimes the initial login link needs to be clicked before you can use your credentials (even after password resets).

Interesting! I never tried on my phone - will do that right now. And I don't remember seeing an activation link in the email, so I'll check for that too. Thank you!

Let me know if it works! Also check your spam folder for the activation email - CUIAB emails often get filtered there.

IT WORKED ON MY PHONE!!! Thank you so much!! I was able to log in and upload my documents. What a relief. The portal looks completely different on mobile too - much simpler. Thanks everyone for all your help!!

That's awesome that it worked! @Emma Davis I m'so glad you got your documents uploaded in time. Mobile sites are often more stripped down and have fewer compatibility issues. Good luck with your hearing!

This is such great news Emma! I'm dealing with a similar portal issue right now and was getting so stressed. Knowing the mobile version works gives me hope. @CosmicCrusader thanks for sharing that IT knowledge - you probably just saved a lot of people from major headaches!
