EDD selective conditional payments - only paid 1 week out of 3 pending weeks while waiting for eligibility interview

Hi everyone, I'm so confused about these conditional payments EDD is supposedly doing now. My husband has been laid off from his construction job and applied for unemployment 5 weeks ago. He received a message that they'd be issuing conditional payments while he waits for his eligibility interview (no date scheduled yet). The weird thing is they only paid him for the week ending 3/8, but the weeks ending 3/15 and 3/22 are still showing as pending. I thought conditional payments were supposed to cover all pending weeks? It's so frustrating because we're counting on that money for our mortgage. Has anyone else experienced EDD only releasing some pending weeks as conditional payments but not others? Do the other weeks get automatically paid once they've been pending for a certain amount of time (like 2 weeks)? Any insights would be really helpful because EDD's website doesn't explain this clearly at all.

Based on everything in this thread, I think the most likely explanation is that EDD is processing conditional payments in batches, and your husband's other weeks should be coming soon. The 14-day guideline that others mentioned seems to be the key factor. I'd recommend: 1. Wait until both pending weeks have been pending for at least 14 days 2. If they don't switch to paid status within 2-3 days after that point, try to contact EDD 3. Make sure all certifications are completed with consistent answers 4. Check that there are no new messages or alerts in the UI Online account that might explain the delay In my experience, most conditional payments do process automatically, but sometimes they need a manual push from a representative.

Thanks for this clear plan of action! We'll follow these steps and hopefully see some movement soon. I'll update here if anything changes in case it helps others in the same situation.

I'm going through something very similar right now! Filed 4 weeks ago after being laid off from my retail job, and EDD said they'd do conditional payments while I wait for my eligibility interview. They paid me for 2 weeks but left 1 week pending with no explanation. It's been 16 days on that pending week now and still nothing. Reading through this thread makes me feel less alone - it seems like EDD's conditional payment system is just really inconsistent right now. I'm going to try some of the suggestions here like checking for any missed messages and maybe using that Claimyr service if I can't get through by phone. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!

New claim after recent layoff - too soon for EDD benefits again?

My wife just got laid off only 2 months after starting a new job. She was previously on unemployment before finding this position, which only lasted about 8 weeks before the company did massive cuts. When I tried helping her reapply for benefits, I thought I read somewhere that she can't file a new claim since it's been less than 6 months since her previous claim ended? Is this accurate or am I misunderstanding how benefit periods work? Does she have to wait some minimum time between claims? Her previous benefit year might still be active but I'm confused about how this works with the brief employment period in between. Any guidance would be extremely helpful as we're trying to figure out our finances this week.

My sister went thru this EXACT thing and they made her wait 5 WEEKS for an interview just to verify the layoff!!! Even tho she had the paperwork and everything!!! The system is such garbage. Make sure ur wife keeps certifying EVERY week even while waiting for the interview otherwise she'll have to backdate everything and that's a whole other nightmare!!!

Oh that's a great tip about continuing to certify! I'll make sure she does that. 5 weeks is a long time to wait for an interview, hopefully it's faster now.

Just wanted to add that if your wife's benefit year is close to expiring (like within a few weeks), it might actually be better to let it expire and file a completely new claim instead of reopening. This way those 8 weeks of work would count toward her base period for the new claim, potentially giving her a higher weekly benefit amount or extending her benefit period. You can check her benefit year end date in her UI Online account. If there's only a month or two left, it might be worth calculating whether a new claim would be more beneficial. The EDD can help with this calculation if you call, though as others mentioned, getting through can be challenging.

EDD constantly marking posts as fraudulent - account review taking forever

Has anyone else been dealing with this ridiculous issue where EDD keeps flagging your weekly certifications as 'potentially fraudulent'? I've been on UI for nearly 2 months after my restaurant closed, and for the THIRD time now, my payment is on hold because of 'suspicious activity' that they never explain. My certifications are 100% honest - I report the exact hours I work at my part-time gig (about 15 hrs/week) and actively look for full-time work. I've uploaded my ID docs twice already through ID.me, and my claim still keeps getting flagged. Called the 800 number 27 times yesterday but can't get through to an actual person. My rent is due next week and I've got $143 left in my account. This system feels designed to prevent people from getting benefits they deserve!

YES! Success! I used Claimyr this morning and got through to a rep in about 20 minutes. She looked at my account and said the fraud flag was triggered by having the exact same hours reported for 4 weeks in a row. She manually reviewed my uploaded pay stubs and removed the hold. My payment is already pending in my account! Thank you all for the help - especially the Claimyr recommendation. Worth every penny to get this resolved before rent was due.

So glad you got it resolved! This is exactly why I love this community - people actually helping each other navigate these bureaucratic nightmares. Your story about the exact same hours triggering the fraud flag is super helpful for others who might be dealing with the same issue. I'm bookmarking the Claimyr recommendation too just in case I ever need it. Thanks for following up with the resolution - it gives hope to others stuck in the same situation!

Can't find working EDD phone number in Fresno CA - tried everything

I've been searching everywhere for a working EDD phone number in Fresno CA and I'm going crazy. I know there used to be local offices but everything seems to go through the main state line now. I've tried the 800 number about 50 times this week and either get busy signals or sit on hold for hours before getting disconnected. Does anyone know if there's still a direct Fresno EDD office number that actually works? I need to talk to someone about my claim status and the automated system isn't helping.

Last resort option: if you absolutely cannot get through manually and need to resolve something urgent, services like Claimyr basically guarantee you'll talk to someone within an hour instead of maybe never getting through on your own.

Sometimes you have to weigh your time versus the cost. If your claim is worth more than the service fee and you're not getting anywhere manually, it makes sense.

That's exactly how I justified using Claimyr. My time was worth more than what I paid, especially since I wasn't getting through anyway.

I'm in the same boat in Fresno - been trying to reach EDD for over a week now with no success. Reading through all these comments, it sounds like the consensus is there's no local Fresno number anymore and we're all stuck with the main 800-300-5616 line. I'm going to try that Wednesday afternoon timing that several people mentioned, and maybe look into Claimyr if I can't get through by Friday. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - at least now I know I'm not missing some secret local number!

EDD payment pending and CALjobs resume upload issue - Need help!

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my unemployment payment and CALjobs. My payment is pending and I can't seem to download my resume to CALjobs. Anyone else experiencing similar problems or know what might be causing this? Any advice would be appreciated!

Pro tip: If you do manage to get through on the phone, ask for a tier 2 specialist right away. The first-level reps often can't help with complex issues.

This! ๐Ÿ’ฏ Tier 2 is where its at. They have way more power to fix things

I had a similar issue with CALjobs not letting me upload my resume. Turns out the file name had special characters in it (like &, %, etc.) that were causing problems. Try renaming your resume file to something simple like "FirstName_LastName_Resume.pdf" with no spaces or special characters. Also make sure it's under 2MB. That fixed it for me! As for the pending payment, definitely double-check your certification answers like others mentioned. Sometimes even a small mistake can flag your claim for review.
