Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

I found a way to get someone on the phone without the crazy wait times. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. idk if this helps, but last time I had an issue, I reached out to my state representative's office. They have liaisons who can sometimes cut through the red tape faster than we can on our own.
This is actually really good advice. I did this once for a different government issue and it worked like a charm!

Quick question for anyone who knows - if I pick up some freelance work, do I have to report that? And will it affect my benefits?
Yes, you definitely need to report any income. It might reduce your benefits for that week, but you could still be eligible for partial payment.

PSA: Watch out for scams! There are a lot of people trying to take advantage of folks on unemployment. Never give out your personal info to anyone claiming to be from the unemployment office unless you're 100% sure it's legit.

Whatever you do, DON'T miss your weekly certifications! Set a reminder on your phone or something. If you miss em, it can mess up your payments big time.
