Where to find EDD PFL statement details for irregular payments
I received a PFL payment last week for my baby bonding leave but there's no information about what dates it covers. Nothing showed up in my account this week at all even though I've certified for all weeks. When I log into my EDD account, I can see the payment amount from last week but zero details about what period it's for. Is there a special place I need to look for payment statements or a breakdown of dates? This is my first time on PFL and I'm completely lost trying to budget with these random payments. Has anyone else had trouble finding their payment statements?

•Thanks! I checked UI Online but didn't see a payment history tab anywhere. Is that under 'Claim History' maybe? When I go there it just shows my claim start date but no breakdown of payments.

You need to check the 'Payment Activity' section, not UI Online. PFL payments are handled through a separate system than unemployment. Log into your SDI account (not your regular UI account) at https://edd.ca.gov/en/disability/ and click on 'View Payment Activity' on the dashboard. It will show a breakdown of each payment including the begin/end dates for each period. If you're not seeing any payment details, it's possible they processed a partial payment while reviewing your eligibility or documentation. This happens sometimes with PFL baby bonding claims, especially if you recently transitioned from pregnancy disability.

•Oh! I've been logging into the wrong system completely. I didn't realize PFL and UI were different accounts. Going to try the SDI login now - thank you so much for clarifying this!

When I was on baby bonding leave last year, my payments were totally random!! One week I'd get paid, then nothing for 10 days, then suddenly two payments at once. EDD is completely disorganized with PFL. I ended up having to call them THREE TIMES to figure out what was happening with my claim. Super frustrating when you're trying to care for a newborn and also track down missing money!

•3 times?? You're lucky! I had to call like 15 times during my maternity leave and never got through. The EDD phone system is completely broken for PFL questions. I gave up and just accepted whatever random payments they decided to send me.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO CONFUSE US!!!!! They don't WANT us to understand when we're getting paid or how much. I had the exact same issue in 2024 and spent HOURS trying to get through to someone for an explanation. By the time I finally got my full payment breakdown, my baby bonding leave was almost over!!!! This is why so many parents get screwed out of their full PFL benefits.

•It definitely feels that way sometimes! I just want to understand what periods I'm being paid for so I can budget accordingly. So frustrating.

Try using Claimyr to get through to an EDD representative. I was in the same situation with irregular PFL payments and couldn't find statements anywhere. After trying to call for days with no luck, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an EDD agent in under 10 minutes. They explained exactly what was happening with my payments and fixed an issue with my claim that was causing the irregular schedule. You can see how it works in their demo video: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM?si=6N1iCQ3a8Cdb2Ay5 The agent I spoke with explained that sometimes PFL payments get split up when they're processing a backlog or if there's a transition between claim periods. They were able to provide a complete statement of all my past and pending payments.

•is this legit? seems sketchy having a third party service to talk to edd

It's completely legitimate - they just connect you to the actual EDD representatives faster than waiting on hold yourself. I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of frustration. You still talk directly to EDD employees who have access to your claim information.

•Thanks for the suggestion - might try this if I can't figure it out through the SDI portal. At this point I just need to understand what's happening with my claim.

There's a big difference between PFL (Paid Family Leave) and UI (Unemployment Insurance). They use different systems, different portals, and sometimes even different payment schedules. For PFL baby bonding, you should: 1. Log into the SDI Online portal (not UI Online) 2. Look for the 'View Payment Activity' button 3. Click on any payment to see the detail screen 4. The detail screen will show 'Benefit Week Ending' dates for each payment If you're not seeing detailed information after checking there, it could be because: - Your claim has a pending determination on part of the benefit period - There was a gap in your certification submissions - You had a transition from Pregnancy Disability to Baby Bonding that's still processing - Your employer verification is still pending for certain weeks Unfortunately, EDD doesn't send detailed statements automatically - you have to dig for this information in the portal.

•This is SO helpful! I just logged into the SDI portal and found everything exactly where you said. Turns out they're holding payment for two weeks because they're waiting on additional information from my employer. Mystery solved! Thank you!

If ur still having issues understanding your PFL payments after checking the portal, call early in the morning like right when they open at 8am. Thats the only time i ever got through without waiting forever. The statement breakdown online is confusing so sometimes u just need to talk to a human lol

Just wanted to follow up on this thread since I had a similar issue recently. After reading through all the advice here, I found that the SDI portal approach worked perfectly. One additional tip - if you're transitioning from pregnancy disability to baby bonding leave, there's often a delay in the system updating which can cause those confusing payment gaps. The key is to keep certifying for benefits even when payments seem irregular. EDD will backpay once they sort out any processing delays. Also, screenshot your payment activity page regularly since the portal sometimes glitches and doesn't show older payment details consistently.

This is such a common issue with PFL! I went through the same confusion when I was on baby bonding leave. The irregular payment schedule is totally normal but super stressful when you're trying to budget with a new baby. What helped me was setting up a simple spreadsheet to track my certifications vs actual payments - that way I could see which weeks were still pending. Also, don't panic if you see gaps between payments - sometimes they batch process several weeks at once or hold payments while verifying employment info. The SDI portal that others mentioned is definitely the right place to look, and once you find that payment activity section it becomes much clearer. Hang in there, it gets easier to navigate once you know where to look!

•That spreadsheet idea is brilliant! I wish I had thought of that when I was dealing with this mess. It's so reassuring to hear that the irregular payments are normal - EDD really should make that clearer upfront. The anxiety of not knowing when money will come in while you're on leave with a new baby is just awful. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Just went through this exact same situation last month! The irregular payment schedule is so stressful when you're trying to plan finances with a newborn. Like others mentioned, the SDI portal is definitely where you need to look - not the regular UI system. One thing that helped me was calling the EDD disability line (not the unemployment line) at 1-800-480-3287. They were actually more helpful than the regular EDD number for PFL questions. Also, I noticed that if you recently submitted any additional paperwork or if your employer was slow to respond to their verification requests, that can cause those random payment delays. Keep certifying every two weeks even when payments seem weird - they'll catch up with backpay once everything processes. The whole system is confusing but you'll get through it!

•Thank you for sharing that phone number! I had no idea there was a separate disability line for PFL questions. That explains why I kept getting transferred around when I called the main EDD number. I'm definitely going to try calling 1-800-480-3287 if I run into any more issues. It's such a relief to know that the irregular payments and delays are actually normal - EDD really needs to do a better job explaining this process to new parents. The stress of not knowing when money will arrive while you're caring for a newborn is just unnecessary anxiety on top of everything else!

I'm going through this exact same thing right now with my PFL claim! Got one random payment last week with zero explanation of what weeks it covered, and now nothing this week even though I certified. It's so frustrating trying to figure out your finances when you have no idea when the next payment is coming or what it's even for. Reading through all these responses has been super helpful - I had no idea there was a separate SDI portal for PFL vs the regular UI system. Going to log into the SDI portal right now and see if I can find my payment breakdown there. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it makes me feel less crazy for being so confused by this whole process!

•You're definitely not crazy - the whole PFL system is so confusing! I just went through this same thing a few months ago and felt completely lost too. The SDI portal really is a game changer once you find it. When you log in, look for that "View Payment Activity" section that Diego mentioned earlier - it saved my sanity! Also don't stress too much about the irregular timing, it seems like that's just how EDD processes PFL payments unfortunately. Keep certifying every two weeks no matter what, and everything should eventually catch up. Hang in there! 💙
