PFL payment delays and benefit questions - need advice for upcoming EDD call

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my PFL payments and I've got a bunch of questions. Has anyone else been dealing with delayed payments or confusing benefit calculations? I'm trying to get ready for a call with them, but I'm not sure what info I need or what specific questions to ask. Any advice on how to handle this call and make sure I get all my concerns addressed?

I found a way to solve PFL payment delays and issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E_VyN2UfYc

Ugh, PFL payments can be such a headache! šŸ¤• I've been there. Make sure you have all your recent payment notices and any letters from EDD ready. Write down EVERY question you have - even the ones that seem obvious. Trust me, you'll forget something important if you don't!

Thanks for the tip! Do you think I should also have my bank statements handy? I'm not sure if the amounts match up.

Absolutely! Bring those bank statements. It's always good to have proof of what you've received (or haven't received). Better to have too much info than not enough!

Good advice! I'd add: take notes during the call. These convos can get confusing fast, and you might need to reference what they said later.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imho.

20 bucks to skip the hold time? Sign me up! šŸ™Œ How long did it take to get through?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I didn't have to sit there listening to that awful hold music. The service called me when an agent was on the line.

Here's what you need to know about PFL payments: ā€¢ Payments are typically processed within 14 days of receiving a properly completed claim ā€¢ If there's a delay, it's often due to missing information or discrepancies in your claim ā€¢ Keep track of your benefit year date - it affects your maximum benefit amount ā€¢ If you're having issues, ask about the specific status of your claim and any pending payments ā€¢ Don't forget to ask about taxes - you can choose to have them withheld or pay them later Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Wow, this is super helpful! Thank you so much. I didn't even think about the tax withholding option.

Great info! Just wanna add - sometimes they mess up the benefit year date. Double-check it's correct when you call!

am i the only 1 who thinks the whole pfl system is broken af? šŸ¤” like why do we gotta jump through so many hoops just to get what we're entitled to?

Preach! šŸ™Œ The system is a joke. It's like they're trying to make it as difficult as possible.

It's frustrating, but remember the people on the phone are just doing their jobs. Be nice to them and they're more likely to help!

Pro tip: if you can, try calling right when they open. I've had better luck getting through early in the morning. Also, Wednesdays seem to be less busy for some reason. good luck!

Has anyone else noticed that the online portal is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? šŸ™„ It's like they're trolling us at this point.

OMG YES! šŸ˜¤ I swear it's down more often than it's up. How are we supposed to check our claims?

I've had better luck using it late at night or early morning. Seems like less traffic then.

Quick question - does anyone know if PFL payments affect other benefits like CalFresh or Medi-Cal? I'm worried about losing my other support if I start getting PFL.

That's a great question! I'm not sure, but you should definitely ask about that when you call. It could have important implications.

In my experience, PFL didn't affect my CalFresh, but it's always best to check with a caseworker to be sure. Every situation is different.
