PFL benefits in CA on hold due to offset issues - no payments received, what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my PFL benefits in California. I haven't received any payments because of some offset issues. Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm not sure what to do next and could really use some advice.

Ugh, offsets are the worst! 😫 I had a similar issue last year. Have you received any notices explaining the offset? Sometimes they don't communicate clearly and you gotta dig for info.

•No, I haven't gotten any notices yet. That's part of why I'm so confused. How long did it take for you to get things sorted out?

•It took me about 3 weeks of calling and emailing before I got a clear answer. Hang in there! 💪

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•How long did you have to wait after using the service?

•It took about 2 hours, but I just went about my day and got a call when an agent was ready. Way better than being stuck on hold!

Have you checked your EDD account online? Sometimes there's info there about offsets or holds on your account that doesn't come through in the mail.

PFL offsets are usually due to overpayments or other debts. Did you maybe receive benefits you weren't eligible for in the past? Or have any outstanding taxes or child support?

•Not that I know of... I've never had issues before. Is there a way to check for outstanding debts?

•You can try calling the PFL office directly or checking your credit report. Sometimes it's a mistake on their end tho, so don't panic yet!

Here's what you need to do to resolve PFL offset issues in California: 1. Check your online account: Log into your EDD account and look for any messages or notices about offsets. 2. Review your mail: Sometimes notices are sent via snail mail, so check your mailbox carefully. 3. Calculate potential overpayments: Go through your past benefits and make sure you were eligible for everything you received. 4. Contact PFL directly: Call the PFL office at 1-877-238-4373. Be prepared with your claim number and any relevant documents. 5. Request a written explanation: If you can't get clear answers over the phone, ask for a written explanation of the offset. 6. Appeal if necessary: If you believe the offset is an error, you have the right to appeal within 30 days of receiving the notice. 7. Set up a repayment plan: If the offset is valid, you may be able to arrange a repayment plan that's less financially stressful. Remember, persistence is key when dealing with government agencies. Don't be afraid to follow up regularly until you get answers. Good luck!
