PFL claim delay: No response for June, need to submit July form - EDD CA advice needed
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my paid family leave claim. I sent in the form for June about two weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything back. Now I need to submit another form for the first week of July. Anyone else dealing with this? Any tips on how to get an update or new forms quickly? I'm starting to get worried about the delay.

I feel ya, buddy. The system is so slow sometimes. Have you tried calling them? That's usually the fastest way to get an update.

Yeah, I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. Always busy or they hang up on me 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I mean like, the second they open. Set an alarm and everything.

Sometimes waiting until later in the afternoon works too. People might think it's too late to call, so the lines might be less busy.

Quick question - did you receive any kind of confirmation when you submitted your form two weeks ago?

Now that you mention it... I don't think I did. Should I have?

Check your junk folder and make sure your email address on file is correct.

Consider reaching out to local news outlets. Sometimes public pressure helps.

Please don't. My cousin works there and they're already overwhelmed. It's not the workers' fault.

Solidarity is important, but remember the frontline workers are just as frustrated with the system.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep trying to call. I know it sucks, but persistence is key. 2. While you wait, gather all your documents. Make sure you have copies of everything. 3. For the new form, you can usually download it from their website. Look for "Claim Forms" or something similar. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try emailing them. Include your claim number and the dates you're inquiring about. 5. Document everything. Every call attempt, every email sent. This will help if you need to escalate later. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't be afraid to be a bit pushy (but always polite). Good luck!

This is solid advice. I'd add: if all else fails, contact your state representative. They can sometimes work miracles.

Don't forget to check your spam folder for emails! I missed an important update because it went to spam 🤦♂️

Also, consider checking if there are any community advocacy groups that deal with such issues. They might have resources to assist you.

Has anyone tried using their online portal? I heard they updated it recently.

I tried, but it was super confusing. Couldn't figure out where to check my claim status.

The new portal is garbage. Bring back the old one! 😤

I found a guide online that helps navigate the new portal. It was a lifesaver for me.

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Sent my form in 3 weeks ago and crickets. It's so frustrating!

3 weeks?! That's ridiculous. Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

I heard that sometimes reaching out on social media can help too. Maybe try tweeting at them?

Hey OP, I understand how frustrating this can be. One option you might want to consider is using a service like Claimyr. It’s a third-party service that helps people get through government agency phone lines by staying on hold for you until an agent is available, and then it connects you to them. It does come with a fee, usually around $20, but many have found it to be a lifesaver in urgent situations. That said, it's important to weigh the cost versus the urgency of your situation before deciding to use such a service. While it can be a great short-term solution, it would certainly be better if the system itself were more efficient and didn't require such workarounds. Always ensure to document any interactions with the agency, whether it's via phone, email, or fax, as this documentation could be critical in resolving your claim. Remember that persistence is key and don't hesitate to contact local officials or advocacy groups for additional support. Best of luck!

Plot twist: what if we all just quit our jobs and live in the woods? No more need for paid family leave! Problem solved! 🌲🏕️

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

$20?! That's highway robbery! The government should make it easier to reach them without paying extra.

Yeah, it really works. I was skeptical too, but I was desperate. Got through in about 2 hours. Worth every penny for me.

I tried it too, and it worked, but $20 every time can add up. It's great for emergencies, though.
