PFL application missing after waiver denial - need to reapply?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I just got a notice saying my waiver was denied, but here's the kicker - I applied for Paid Family Leave (PFL) and there's no record of it! I'm thinking I might need to reapply for PFL. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, that sucks! The system is so messed up. I had a similar issue last year. Here's what I did: 1. Gather all your docs - confirmation emails, letters, everything. 2. Call them and explain the situation clearly. Tell them about the denied waiver and the missing PFL application. 3. Ask if you need to reapply and what steps to take. Be prepared for a long wait time tho. Good luck!

•Thanks for the advice! Did you have to reapply in your case?

•Yeah, I did. It was a pain, but once I got through to someone, they helped me sort it out. Just be persistent!

I found a way to get someone on the phone fast. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

•For me it was. Time is money, and I was spending hours trying to get through. This got me talking to someone in like 30 mins.

Oof, been there done that. The PFL system is a joke. I had to reapply THREE TIMES before they got it right. Keep pushing and don't give up!

This happened to my cousin last month. Turns out there was a glitch in there system and a bunch of applications got lost. Might be worth asking if thats whats goin on

•A glitch? That's concerning. You'd think they'd have better systems in place for something so important.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

Maybe try applying online instead of by phone? I found the online system to be more reliable (tho still not perfect lol

I work at a local social services office and see this issue way too often. Here's what I recommend: 1) File a new PFL application ASAP - don't wait for them to fix the "missing" one. 2) When you call, ask to speak with a supervisor and mention that your original application disappeared from their system. 3) Keep detailed notes of every call (date, time, rep name, what was discussed). The squeaky wheel gets the grease with EDD unfortunately. Also, if you're still within your benefit period, you shouldn't lose any eligibility by reapplying. Hang in there!

•This is super helpful advice from someone who actually works in the system! @Cassandra Moon, do you know if there's any way to expedite the process once you reapply? And should Paolo mention the waiver denial when filing the new PFL application?
