Is my CA EDD PFL claim still active? How to check status?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out if my order with California EDD Paid Family Leave (PFL) is still active. I placed it recently but I'm not sure about the status. Has anyone else had trouble keeping track of their PFL orders? Any tips on how to check or what to do if it's not active anymore?

I've been there! The EDD system can be so confusing sometimes. Have you tried logging into your account on the EDD website? Usually, you can see your active claims there.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a try. The website has been glitchy for me lately tho 😩

•No prob! Yeah, it can be frustrating. If the website doesn't work, you might have to bite the bullet and call them directly. Good luck!

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20 just to make a phone call? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😤

•I get the skepticism, but it honestly worked for me. Saved me a ton of time and headache. Sometimes you gotta spend money to save time, ya know?

•I've used it too. Worth every penny when you're dealing with something as important as PFL benefits.

Have you received any confirmation emails or letters from EDD? They usually send something when your claim is active.

Here's what you need to know about checking your PFL claim status: 1. Log into your EDD account online 2. Look for the 'Claim Status' section 3. Check for any pending tasks or messages 4. Verify your claim effective date 5. Look for any payment information If you can't find the info online, you might need to call. Try early in the morning or late afternoon for shorter wait times. And don't give up - sometimes it takes a few tries to get through! Also, make sure you've submitted all required documents. Missing paperwork can delay your claim. Hope this helps!

I feel your pain. Been dealing with PFL issues for months now. The whole system is a joke. Good luck, OP!

Hey Amara! I had a similar issue a few months back. One thing that helped me was checking my mail - sometimes they send paper notices that don't show up online right away. Also, if you're still within your benefit year, your claim should automatically remain active as long as you're eligible. The tricky part is making sure all your paperwork is processed. Have you tried calling the PFL line specifically? It's different from regular unemployment and sometimes has shorter wait times. Hang in there - the system is frustrating but you'll get through it!

•This is really helpful advice! I never thought about checking regular mail - I'm so used to everything being digital these days. Do you remember roughly how long it took for your paperwork to get processed once you submitted everything? I'm trying to get a sense of the timeline here.

•@Isabella Ferreira Thanks for mentioning the PFL-specific line! I didn t'even know there was a separate number. Do you happen to remember what that number is? And yeah, I should definitely check my mailbox - I ve'been so focused on the online portal that I forgot they still send physical mail sometimes. Really appreciate the encouragement too, this whole process has been so stressful! 😊

Hey Amara! I went through this exact same thing last year. Here's what worked for me: First, check if you can see your claim in the "SDI Online" portal (that's the State Disability Insurance system that handles PFL). Sometimes the regular EDD site doesn't show PFL claims properly. Also, look for any mail from "State Disability Insurance" - they send updates separately from regular EDD correspondence. If your claim was recently filed, it can take 14+ days just for initial processing. One more tip: if you need to call, try the automated phone system first (1-877-238-4373) - you can sometimes get basic status info without waiting for a human. The system is definitely frustrating but don't give up! Your benefits are worth fighting for. 💪
