EDD claim status check impossible - 'maximum callers' message every time. How to actually reach an agent?

I've been trying to check on my EDD claim status for days now. Every time I call, I get the 'maximum callers on the line' message and they hang up on me. I've spent almost a full business day just calling and recalling with no luck. Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you finally get through to an agent?

I found a way to solve EDD claim status phone issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDfkhBowuvo

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was in the same boat last month. It's like trying to win the lottery just to talk to a human being. šŸ™„

I swear they do this on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits. It's a disgrace!

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? That's steep for something that should be free. Is it really worth it?

I was skeptical too, but after wasting days trying to get through, $20 seemed worth a shot. It worked for me on the first try. Saved me so much time and frustration.

How long did you have to wait once it connected you?

It took about 2 hours total, but I didn't have to do anything. The service called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than constantly redialing myself.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for months: ā€¢ Best times to call are right when they open or an hour before closing ā€¢ Use the trick where you press 1-2-4 as soon as the automated message starts ā€¢ If you get through to any department, ask them to transfer you ā€¢ Be persistent! Sometimes it takes 50+ calls to get through ā€¢ Check your online account regularly for updates ā€¢ If all else fails, contact your local assembly member's office Hope this helps someone! Stay strong, we're all in this together. šŸ’Ŗ

Wait, what's this 1-2-4 trick? Can you explain more?

Sure! As soon as the automated message starts, quickly press 1, then 2, then 4 on your keypad. It sometimes bypasses the queue and gets you to a human faster. It doesn't always work, but worth a try!

have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds old school but I got a response within 48 hours after sending a fax lol

This is why we need to overhaul the entire unemployment system. It's not equipped to handle high volume situations like covid or recessions. We deserve better!

Preach! šŸ™Œ Maybe if our politicians had to deal with this mess, it'd get fixed real quick

100% agree. The system is archaic and needs a complete redesign.

Pro tip: if you have Twitter, try tweeting at the EDD account. Sometimes they respond and can help escalate your case. Worth a shot!

I've been dealing with this for 3 months now. Lost my job, can't get through to EDD, bills piling up. I'm at my wits end. Any advice on how to stay sane through all this?

Hang in there, friend. Have you looked into local food banks or rent assistance programs? They might be able to help while you sort this out.

Been there. Try to establish a routine, even if you're not working. It helps maintain a sense of normalcy. And don't be afraid to reach out for mental health support if you need it.
