EDD PFL Refund Issues - New Mom Form Confusion & Double Charging Concerns

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my EDD claim refund. I filed for Paid Family Leave as a new mom and I'm trying to follow up on my claim. Has anyone else had problems with refunds or communication from EDD about the "new mommy" form? I'm worried about getting charged again and I really need to know what's going to be refunded. Any advice or similar experiences?

Ugh, dealing with EDD is such a headache! I had a similar issue with my maternity leave claim. Have you tried calling them directly? It took me forever to get through, but it was the only way I could get a straight answer about my refund.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

I get it, but honestly, it was worth every penny to finally get my issue resolved.

Here's what you need to know about EDD refunds and the "new mommy" form: 1. Refunds are typically processed within 10-14 business days after approval. 2. The "new mommy" form (actually called DE 2501FP) must be filed within 41 days of the first day of your family leave. 3. If you were overcharged, EDD will refund the difference to your original payment method. 4. Keep all documentation related to your claim and payments. 5. If you haven't received any communication, it might be stuck in processing. This is unfortunately common. My advice: Keep calling, document everything, and consider reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes help expedite EDD issues.

Whatever you do, DON'T let them charge you again! Make sure to check your bank statements and dispute any unauthorized charges. EDD messed up my refund and I had to fight to get my money back.

Oh no, that sounds awful! How long did it take you to resolve it?

It took about 3 weeks of constant calling and emailing. Stay vigilant!

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of mailing them? I heard it might be faster 🤔
