EDD: Got Notice of Computation, when will payments actually start?
Hey everyone, I just got my Notice of Computation for unemployment. I'm wondering when my income will actually start coming in. Has anyone been through this recently? How long did it take after you got the notice for the payments to begin? I'm getting a bit anxious about bills piling up.

Congrats on getting your Notice of Computation! That's a good first step. In my experience, it took about 2 weeks after I got that notice for my first payment to come through. Have you certified for any weeks yet?

ā¢Thanks for the info! I haven't certified for any weeks yet. Do I need to wait for something else before I can do that?

ā¢You should be able to certify as soon as you have an online account set up. Log in and check if there are any weeks available for certification. If not, keep checking every few days.

ā¢Have you tried calling them? Sometimes there's a hold on the account that you need to clear up.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

ā¢I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Got through to an agent in about 2 hours.

ā¢$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to pay for basic service š¤

ā¢I get it, but for me it was worth it. I was losing more money each day my claim wasn't processed.

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research: ⢠After receiving the Notice of Computation, you need to certify for benefits every two weeks. ⢠The first payment usually comes 1-3 weeks after your first certification, depending on any potential issues with your claim. ⢠Make sure you're answering all certification questions accurately to avoid delays. ⢠If you haven't received payment after 3 weeks of certifying, there might be an issue with your claim. ⢠Check your UI Online account for any pending issues or required actions. ⢠Be prepared to verify your identity if asked - this can cause delays but is necessary. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hang in there, OP! We're all in the same boat. It's frustrating, but the money will come eventually. Just keep certifying and checking your account.

Pro tip: set up direct deposit as soon as you can. It's way faster than waiting for the debit card to come in the mail.

ā¢This! I waited an extra week cuz I didn't set up direct deposit right away. Don't make my mistake!

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "undergoing maintenance" when you actually need to use it? š

I went through this exact same situation about 6 months ago! After getting my Notice of Computation, I was able to start certifying within a few days. My first payment hit my account about 10 days after my first certification. The key things that helped me: 1) Set up direct deposit immediately (saved me almost a week vs waiting for the debit card), 2) Certified as soon as the option became available in my account, and 3) Made sure all my info was accurate to avoid any holds. Don't stress too much - once the process gets rolling, it's pretty reliable. Just keep checking your account daily for certification opportunities!

ā¢This is really helpful, thanks for sharing your timeline! I'm curious - did you have to do anything special to verify your identity, or did everything go smoothly once you started certifying? I keep hearing horror stories about people getting stuck in identity verification limbo for weeks.

ā¢I'm in a similar boat right now! Just got my Notice of Computation yesterday and feeling anxious about when things will actually start moving. Your timeline gives me hope - 10 days total doesn't sound too bad. Did you have any issues with the website when you were trying to certify? I've been reading about people having trouble accessing their accounts during peak hours.

Just wanted to share my recent experience to give you some hope! I got my Notice of Computation about 3 weeks ago and was in the same anxious boat as you. Here's my timeline: Got the notice on a Tuesday, was able to certify for my first week that Friday, and my payment hit my account the following Wednesday (so about 8 days total). The key was setting up direct deposit right away - I almost made the mistake of waiting for the debit card but changed my mind after reading posts here. Also, I found that logging into the EDD site around 6 AM worked way better than trying during the day when everyone else is on there. Hang in there, the waiting is brutal but once it starts flowing it's pretty consistent!
